"What are you doing?" Taylor asked confused when Karlie turned to leave the car."I'm walking you to your front door of course," the brunette explained, "What did you think?"
"I don't know. I'm pretty new to all of this," Taylor shrugged her shoulders, feeling stupid.
"Hey, we'll figure it out, Tay. I promise," Karlie assured her with a soft smile, reaching out to give Taylor's hand a gentle squeeze.
"Okay," Taylor nodded, still feeling a little unsure.
Karlie got out of the car and once again opened the door for her date. Taylor found the simple gesture endlessly endearing and it made her heart flutter. How lucky was she to be on a date with the most caring, thoughtful, beautiful girl she had ever crossed paths with? Taylor had been so sure that all the love stories and all the love songs couldn't have been real. She had been so sure that they were just that, stories and songs, made up by someone. But here Karlie was proving her completely wrong. During their short time together Karlie had shown Taylor more kindness than she ever thought was possible.
The two girls walked up to the door hand in hand, both sporting equally huge smiles.
"I guess this is it," Karlie said when they came to a stop in front of the locked door.
"I guess it is," the shorter girl replied. Neither one of them wanted to say goodbye yet, the night had been too amazing to just let it end.
"I should get inside we have an early morning tomorrow," Taylor finally said.
"I'll be here at 7:30 to pick you up, okay?" Karlie asked, reaching out to put a hand on Taylor's cheek.
"I can't wait," Taylor replied, leaning into Karlie's soft touch. The taller girl slowly leaned down and captured Taylor's lips in a sweet kiss.
"Goodnight," she said as they parted.
"Goodnight," Taylor said.
Flashing one last smile in Taylor's direction, Karlie turned around and walked back to her car. She could be a model, Taylor thought to herself as she watched Karlie go. The green-eyed girl turned around once again to wave at Taylor before getting into her car and driving away.
When the car was out of sight Taylor turned around to open the door. She fished the key out of her bag and walked into the dark house. Not even her empty home could ruin her mood. She kicked the door shut behind her and turned the lights on. Taylor stood leaning against the front door before sliding down, sitting on the cold floor. She was overcome by an entirely new kind of happiness. And oh boy did she love that feeling.
A little while later Taylor moved off of the floor and went upstairs, a new spring in her step. She got ready for bed with a smile that was almost too big for her face, thinking of a special pair of green eyes.
Little did she know that a few streets away a certain brunette couldn't get the blonde out of her head. Karlie was lying in her bed staring at the ceiling. Never in a million years had she expected the night to turn out the way it did. She had finally talked to the girl she's had a crush on for months only to find out that their feelings were mutual. As she lay there, Karlie realized that she was way too hyped up to go to sleep. She had to tell someone about her night or she feared she might burst from the pure happiness inside of her. Her mother had already been suspicious when she walked in at 11pm on a school night with the biggest smile on her face. Her obvious happiness had probably prevented her from getting into trouble.
"What do you want?" Karlie squealed when she heard Lily's voice through the phone.
"Oh my God, Lily! You won't believe what happened to me tonight!" Karlie practically screamed into the phone before remembering that her younger sisters, Kimby and Kariann, were both sleeping in the room next to hers and could probably hear her. She didn't want them to ask questions. For now she wanted Taylor all to herself.
