On Sunday Karlie woke up with a smile on her face. She hadn't slept this well in weeks. It wasn't until she had come out to her family the day prior that she noticed just how much the secret she had lived with had worn her down. Now that she was out she felt lighter. She could finally talk about Taylor. She didn't have to lie anymore.

Karlie laughed out loud when she read the time on her alarm. It was only 6.07am. She had rarely ever been up this early without an alarm going off let alone laughed at the fact that she was awake. Why had she waited so long to tell the truth? Karlie was too awake and too excited to go back to sleep so she decided to call the only person she knew would be awake already.

"Well, this is a surprise," Lily said as she answered her phone. "Everything okay?"

"Oh Lil, everything is absolutely perfect right now. Like completely and utterly perfect. I don't remember the last time I woke up early and was happy about it. I'd normally curse myself for it. But no I am too overjoyed to care," Karlie said in record speed.

"Okay, Karlie remember to breathe while you talk." Lily shook her head, trying to make sense of what her best friend had just told her way too fast for her to process. "Why are you so excited at 6am? Are you on something? Did you go out partying and did drugs? Are you a clone? You do not sound like the Karlie I know at all."

"I admit I'm normally a little grumpy in the morning but not today. Maybe not ever again. Who knows?"

"Seriously what's up?" Lily asked more and more confused.

"I came out yesterday," Karlie practically cheered over the phone.

"Wow, I'm so proud of you! I take it your parents took the news well? I mean I already know that the twins did," Lily said genuinely happy for her best friend.

"My parents are totally cool with this. They still love me. I was so nervous when I came out yesterday, you have no idea. I'm pretty sure I was close to having a small panic attack. But it was so worth it. I feel so much better now. I feel like this huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I am so happy," Karlie told Lily once again in record speed.

"I am so, so happy to hear that, Kar. Like so happy I wanna cry," Lily said and Karlie could hear happiness mixed with relief in her voice. She didn't have to see her best friend in that moment; she just knew from her tone that there were tears of happiness in Lily's eyes.

"No, don't cry," Karlie exclaimed.

"I'm just so relieved. I know how worried you were especially after the whole Ed-thing but now everything's fine. Everything's perfect for you. I'm so happy that finally everything's perfect for you."

"Yes," Karlie cheered. "But now I gotta go because I still have to prepare some things for later."

"What are you doing later? A cute date with Taylor?"

"Yep, I'm taking her to the staple and now I have to make some food or we'll starve," Karlie explained as sat up in her bed. She didn't even mind the cold morning air that hit her bare feet once she'd pulled off her blanket. "Can I hang up or will you cry when I do?"

"I won't cry I promise," Lily laughed. "Have a great date with Taylor."

"I'm sure I will and I'll tell you all about it at school tomorrow."

"Okay, see ya tomorrow," Lily said.

"Bye." Karlie hung up the phone and made her way to the kitchen downstairs. She almost started whistling on the way. Almost.

"What are you doing up so early?" Mrs. Kloss asked once she spotted her daughter.

"I am happy," Karlie replied with a shrug.
