41-Marian

Kinney sat up in her bed and blinked, her head throbbed, she wasn't in her original room. She was in the infirmary, there were medics all around her as she tried to sit up. She hadn't remembered how she had gotten here, all she remembered was screams, lots and lots of screams. Something had been laying on her. Her side was sore as a row of stitches snaked up her hip. Cassian rushed over to her, his lab coat on and gloves on his hands. "W-what happened?" Kinney stuttered out, Cassian looked over her for any injurie or breaches in his handy work and found nothing as he stood back up, "I'm not sure, that's something you are going to have to ask Nete." Cassian smiled faintly, Nete perked her pointed ears up at the sound of her name and looked over to them, she made her way over and smiled at Kinney "Good morning, how are you feeling today?" Nete asked her, "I'm fine, I want to know what happened." She demanded, "There was a breach in the academy, there was bombs and knifes and so much blood. Marian jumped in front of a grenade for you, it blew up and lodged into her back, she likely won't walk again." Nete said quietly, Kinney felt tears collect in her eyes, "Where is she." She managed to get out, "She is in a bed, on the other side of the Infirmary, but Kinney ou are not well enough to get up, just lay back down please." she said as she started to walk away, Kinney grabbed her wrist as Cassian made a lunge to keep her on the bed, "Please." She whispered, just enough for Nete to hear her.

Nete took Kinney to see Marian, she sat in a small room, right by the window looking out, she watched the people from the Pit outside cleaning up the yard with surprising efficiency. Kinney knocked slightly on the door frame and Marian turned her head around, "Good morning Kinney, I'm glad you are awake." She smiled, Kinney felt one of the those tears she had felt, spill over her bottom lashes and run down her cheek. "Why did you do it?" She asked, Marian smiled, she pushed her wheelchair over to Kinney and grabbed her hand, "Kinney Versa, I love you, you oblivious dork." She said, in a quiet raspy voice. Kinney stood still, absolutely dumbstruck, she stuttered her words. "Uh, but... how did, huh?" She stared at Marian, Marian pulled her hand down until her face was just in front of hers and she pressed her soft lips to Kinney's. "Come back when you can talk to me Kinney." Marian said as Nete and Cassian helped her shuffle out of the room, her eyes wide, her lips still tingling from where she had kissed her.
