Jay's POV

I gave her the address, which was the address of the Elementary School I work in -hoping she'll hesitate to strangle me there- and left. Well, it was more like her kicking me out of her office, but still. I was walking towards the exit with Zane, talking on the way there. "So, where did you meet? You seemed to know each other for quite some time for her to kick you out that easily." He questioned me. We met in kindergarden and our strings never really appeared so I assume we are soulmates but now she doesn't remember me and thinks I'm a creep and I'm trying to be friends again. "Oh, we're just old buddies. We have like a dude friendship. Arguing and insulting keeps our friendship together." I -tried to- lie. He nodded and almost chuckled a bit.

"Well, I'm really looking forward to getting to know her a bit more, especially since she's working here from now on. Would you like to bring her sometime to hang out with me and Pixal? Just the four of us." He nudged my shoulder. We were now at the exit so I decided to go on my own from here. I said my goodbyes and got on my way.

I was driving back home when my phone started ringing, making me jump from my seat. It's mum and dad.
"Hello?" I answer, my eyes widening a bit, realizing what was about to come.
"Where have you been?! We know that you're busy, but can you at least CALL us?! We were so worried!" I heard my mum yelling. It was true that I hadn't contacted them in months, since I was so busy. Sure, they're happy I have my own life
-well, when I give them grandchildren-, but still, not contacting them at least once a month was a condition that you really didn't want to break.

"Uh, how about we meet up someday? Right now it's not the greatest time, so.. maybe next week?" I asked, parking in my building's parking lot. "Whatever you say sweetie." Mum sighed. "Just, make sure ya don't worry us like that again, okay?" Even though I couldn't see her, I could sense that she was smiling. "Okay, promise. Bye Ma!" I said and ended the call.

I started working once I got to my apartment. And by that, I mean that I just corrected some tests. Everything seemed to be fine, but Timmy really needs to improve his grades. I actually don't know what time she's going to come tomorrow, so I don't know if I'll get to finish the lesson. I'll probably tell Cryptor to cover my shift or something, -even though the kids find him scary-..

Great, a whole day has passed, why does the author do this to me? I read a part from the newest book I bought. I have to say, I like it a lot when characters break the fourth wall.

But yes, it is indeed the next day and I'm waiting for my students to finish the exercise I assigned for them. One by one, they would all shout "Finished!", which yes, is disrespectful, but I can't help but have a weakness at them. All I could do was chuckle at their adorable faces.

Everyone slightly gasped. I looked up from my book and looked at the door, where everyone was looking. Oh.. well, didn't expect her this early, but okay.. " Let's get this over with, shall we?" She slightly hissed. When she saw the kids looking at her, she slightly blushed and calmed down. My plan had worked! I knew she wouldn't strangle me in front of kids! I sat up from my chair and announced to them that I had to go somewhere for a bit. I could hear some of them giggling
and I knew the exact reason why. I discreetly tried to tell them to stop and so they did. We went on our way, after I messaged Cryptor to keep them entertained for a while -even if that means chess-. We were walking down the hallways and across the parking lot. We are now walking towards the park, which is probably really close to where we are now. There was some kind of awkward silence between us, which she awkwardly tried to break.

"So, these kids really love you, huh?" She smiled a bit. "Yeah, I really do love these kids and I'm more than glad they love me back. I'm really happy to be a teacher." I sighed. We had already got to the park by now, so we sat on a bench. She took a deep breath and started talking -calmly this time-.
"Okay, look. I have some.. questions to ask you. At first, who are you? And what do you exactly want?" She questioned. I gulped, trying to figure out a good excuse. "Okay, my name is Jay Walker and we've known each other since kindergarten. When I saw you here, I couldn't believe it. Seeing one of my best childhood friends after all those years.." I looked up in the sky. Well, I didn't tell my goal, but at least I was honest. But I think that this brought up even more questions. "We know each other? I mean, I do remember someone from kindergarten, but he was in my brother's class." Brother? That's something I can answer! "Oh! It's Kai, right?" She looked at me surprised. "Wait! I can prove to you that I know you two! Kai was obsessed with ponies in kindergarten, just as you were with engineering. You may have been a 3-year old, but we would go to my parent's junkyard to play with my dad's tools. You once made a toy dragon for Kai's birthday, remember?" I smiled. I just hope this information is enough to convince her. Instead of getting mad or something, she pulled me into a hug.
"Why the heck did you go away? My only childhood friend, the only person apart from me who knows this stuff.." She giggled. I blushed a bit and returned the hug.

"I have to say that I have my insecurities.. but I kind of believe you. I still dislike that you had to stalk me instead of having this ten minute conversation just to clear things up. No more secrets, okay?"
She lightly punched my shoulder. She started texting someone and then stopped and closed her phone. My phone rang just then. Oh no.
It was a message, from Nya. I forgot to tell her that I'm her online friend, didn't I? I mentally face palmed myself. "Well, I was just gonna say to meet up somewhere to catch up, but it looks like we already know a lot about each other." She raised and eyebrow as she noticed the message. I tried to break the awkward silence that occurred after this, but this time, not with a joke.

"So.. friends?" I asked. She thought for a bit and replied. "I prefer to call it acquaintances with benefits." She chuckled. After hours of talking, I offered to take her home, though her response was negative.

And just like that, I went back to the school to get my car, which wasn't an easy task. The school is already locked by now. I didn't even realize how much time had passed. Enzo -or Mr.E, as the children call him- takes his job very seriously so it was really annoying to get him to open the gate just to get my car. Once I got home, I realized that I seriously needed some rest. I made a grilled cheese and went to watch a movie on the couch. I fell asleep during the movie though. And I deeply paid for that, waking up by a jump scare at 4AM..
