Nya's POV
The next few years were pretty hard. Ever since that incident in kindergarten, my life is quite a mess.. In fact, I had to drop out of High School just because the bullying got too bad, physically and mentally.
But, it wasn't all that bad. I got to college a year earlier and the bullying pretty much stopped. Well, most of it.
What do the strings of fate even do to us rather than destroy our lives?! They're just some stupid, invisible pieces of cloth, after all!"You okay Nya? Hello?" I heard my best friend Skylor call out to me, interupting my thoughts. I looked at her to see her looking at me with worry.
"Look, sweetie, I know it can be tough for you, but it's been 16 years now. Don't let this bring you down." She said, noticing that I felt a bit down again.
"Easy for you to say. You found my brother at 15.." I lowered my head.
"Yes, but my string dragged me through an entire sea. I met him with kelp on my hair.." She sighed. "The point is, I also found my best friend." A smile formed her lips, which I gladly returned.
"I'll have to go now. I've really missed spending time with you though. Talk to you later, I guess?" She told me as she paid for our drinks. I nodded and we said goodbye as I watched her exit the café we were in.
About ten minites later, I decided it's a good time for me to leave too. I pulled up my hoodie so I'd hide my face and grabbed my notebook, in which I wrote notes for my works.
I walked outside just to feel water drips stream down my face. I looked up and saw that it was raining. Great. Good job on not bringing an umbrella Nya..
I was almost at my apartment, my clothes soaking wet. I sat down on a bus stop, waiting for the rain to finally stop. It wasn't the finest on my ideas, but I'd gladly prefer this, rather than walking in the rain. I opened my backpack to see if anything got wet. My notebook was nowhere to be seen.
No,no,no this can't be happening!
All my notes, all my ideas, 3/4 of my personal life! It was all in there! And it's gone!I mentally facepalmed myself for letting this happen. I just sat there having an inner panic attack when I saw a skinny, aburn haired boy, about my age, running towards me.
"I got.. your..your n-notebook.." He said as he tried to catch his breath.
"Uh, but why did you follow me all the way over here? If you saw me, then why didn't you give it to me earlier?" I raised my eyebrow. He stayed silent.
"Well, thanks anyways. See you around." I said and started to leave. The rain was still going, but I really need to get away from this creep.
"Can we be friends?" He happily asked me. I also noticed that the rain had stopped, or so I thought. I looked up just to see an umbrella above my head. I sighed and calmly said:
"I'm sorry dude. I'm not in the need of friendship now."
"It's okay! I'll come back tommorow then! Same place, same time?" He asked. The underworld does he want?
Well done, you just earned yourself the nickname freckled-creep."Uh..sure?" I tried to say. I don't think I'll go though. It's just a stranger. Though he does remind me of something..
"See you then!" He waved happily as he left. I akwardly waved back. And now he left me alone, in the rain. Talk about being a gentleman.
I walked all the way home, soaking wet. I changed to my pyjamas, laid on my bed and started creating my new work. I was halfway through finishing the first chapter, when I got a notification:
'Hey! I really, really like your work! I'm such a huge fan of yours! Your books make my day! But I just wanted to ask, are you okay? I think I spotted you somewhere today and you seemed a bit gloomy. Please don't stress yourself!'
I smiled to myself, almost bursting down to tears. It was really nice to see that I made someone's day for once.
