a/n - Sorry for the extremely LONG hiatus. I just sorta hit a wall and never really went back to trying to get over it. Thanks to @Ava__Hart for the request. Hopefully this is what you were looking for. Also I apologize if any characters are OOC. I haven't watched this show since it got removed from Netflix *nervous chuckle*. This story will be a two parter. Anywho, without further ado, let's get started!

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

Little 6 year old (y/n) was bored out of her wits waiting around on the TARDIS as her father left to save Amy from Demon's Run. While she didn't like the idea of being alone, she was smart enough to understand that she was safer on the TARDIS at her age, than to be out there with her father.

(y/n)'s head shot up from her toys that she was playing with in her room when she heard the TARDIS doors open. Without a second thought, she got up and ran out of the room.

"Daddy! You're back!"

The Doctor had barely made it to the console before his daughter had latched herself to his legs as her way of a hug. He gave a small smile, reaching down and picking her up.

"Hello, (y/n). Things weren't too boring for you here, was it?"

As he was speaking, he started pressing buttons and flipping switches so the TARDIS would leave Demon's run. (y/n) shook her head, holding onto The Doctor and able to climb out of his arms and onto his back, wrapping her arms and legs around him as she held on.

"Where are we going now? And where's Amy and Rory? You did save her, right?"

The Doctor sighed gently, not really wanting to make eye contact with his little girl at the moment.

"I'm afraid we will have to be separated for a little while longer, sweetheart. I'm taking you to Amy and Rory's house, and they're going to watch you for a while."

She looked a little confused.

"How? They're not here on the TARDIS."

"A friend of mine is taking them home. She has a vortex manipulator."

(y/n) seemed to scrunch up her nose slightly.

"Isn't that that device that you call a piece of rubbish all the time and a poor way to travel?"

The Doctor chuckled gently.

"Yes. But it seemed better for them to be taken with that than me dropping them off with the TARDIS. Because if I let them on the TARDIS they wouldn't want to go home."

"Oh... But why am I being taken to their house for them to watch me?"

"I have to go out and look for a... friend of mine. There's no telling how dangerous it will be out there, so it's safer if you stay with Amy and Rory instead."

(y/n) rested her chin on the Doctor's shoulder, a pout on her face.

"Fine..."

The TARDIS made the sound of landing, so the Doctor gently helped (y/n) down off his back. Once she was on solid ground again, he knelt to her height.

"I know this will be hard. It's hard for me, even when I know you'll be in good hands. But all I care about is that you're safe."

He gently kissed her forehead before standing up and leading her to the door. As the door opened, Amy and Rory were both standing there with expectant looks on their face. The Doctor sighed and shook his head.

"Hello Ponds. No, I haven't found her already. I need you two to watch (y/n) while I'm out. She'll be safer here with you than on the TARDIS with me."

Amy gave a hard stare, pointing at the Doctor.

"Fine. But this means you definitely can't take long. Because not only is Melody's life at stake, but your own daughter will be waiting for you too."

The Doctor nodded, looking down at (y/n) gently.

"I promise, I will be back as soon as possible."

(y/n) nodded silently, giving him one last hug before walking over to Amy and Rory.

This was going to be a long wait, the three could already tell.

The first few weeks went by uneventfully, albit boringly. No alien attacks. No reports from the Doctor. Just... life going by slowly. (y/n) would call the Doctor every night, telling him how she missed him and that she hopes he comes back home soon. When it went two weeks with no call back in any nature from the Doctor, (y/n) gave up calling and decided to stop disturbing him.

The hardest call of all was when Amy called the Doctor, (y/n) trying to listen in.

"Doctor? Doctor can you hear me? Are you ever gonna hear this? You don't even know you've got an answer phone."

Amy chuckled gently before continuing.

"How can you be so clever and so completely stupid at the same time? Well if you can hear this, please just pick up the phone. Don't get confused, I'm not invisible or trapped in a space ball or something, I'm just talking on the answer phone. So just pick up the phone."

(y/n) was suddenly pulled pulled out of being able to hear by Rory, who brought her over to the living room.

"What were you doing?"

She looked away.

"Just trying to hear who she was talking to. It was my dad."

Rory sighed gently.

"It's going to be ok. He will be back soon. I'm sure of it."

"How can you know?"

"Because I know the Doctor. I know that, no matter how long it takes, he always comes back. Besides, he would never leave his own daughter behind."

(y/n) nodded.

"Yeah. I guess."

Rory pulled (y/n) into a hug as Amy started walking into the room, phone still to her ear but clearly finishing up.

"Phone me back when you know something. Please Doctor at least do that. As soon as you know, ok? Alright bye."

She hung up and put the phone back in its place before sitting down at the couch with Rory and (y/n).

"Hey you two. Having a sulking party without me?"

(y/n) rolled her eyes.

"I wasn't sulking... whatever that means."

Rory chuckled.

"It means to act all upset because something bad happened."

Amy gently ruffled (y/n)'s hair.

"It's ok. We all miss him. One way or another he will be back soon."

Rory looked like he had thought of something.

"I think I know of a way to distract ourselves for a while. Let's go around town for a while. Go to the movies. Buy and play games. How's that sound."

Amy smiled, showing she was fine with that, while (y/n) nodded.

"Ok!"
