"Finally!" Max said. "There you are, look, it's showing some weird behaviour."
We had been observing the weird spider for a few days now, but it didn't appear to leave the Obelisks' area of light from the obelisk, which is s pretty wide area, our arrows wouldn't shoot far enough if we tried, at least, Kira told us so. She's become more of a tactician instead of a guard ever since Sloth didn't come back.
"Builder!" Max shouted to me. "When are you gonna take a look?!"
"Sorry, sorry, I'll take a look right now."
I got my spyglass and what I saw was bad. Real bad. It hadn't eaten for the time we know, neither has it drunk any water, but this... we saw the spider take a T-rex head on.
"Watch closely Max." I told him. "We might get to see all of his abilities with this strong a foe."
But soon that hope was gone. As the spider walked to T-rex, we saw it being larger than the T-rex itself. The spider didn't do anything yet when close, while the T-rex was already in attack position. The T-rex roared and the spider jumped backwards, leaving 5 green orbs on the ground. The T-rex had only eye for the spider and stepped on the orbs, which broke and we saw normal sized spiders, Araneos, come out of the egg, they are still half a human long as babies, but they were normal Araneos. They chased the rex and started attacking him from behind, the spider, I think Broodmother is a good name for it, just swung one of his legs to the T-rex and it bled out. The Broodmother didn't eat it, it just left that to the normal Araneos. We went back to our tents.
"Man." Max said. "That's some creature, isn't it Builder?"
"Sure is Max, we're gonna have a hard time defeating it if we want to know what's in that obelisk."
I took my recording spyglass out, which is a camera with moving pictures, I know, crazy right? Anyways, I took it out because we saw a little animal behind the Broodmother, a Dilophosaur, and the Broodmother tried attacking it. But when the Dilo shot it's green acid, the Broodmother ran away. The Dilo could easily pass.
"We need to find a way to preserve that green acid." Max said. "We if we can do that, we can shoot it at the Broodmother, it seems to have a lot of effect and we might be able to pass with no more than Shiro for defence against other dinos."
"Max..." I said. "You're a genius!"
We went back to the city and took a lot of Dilo glue, that's what we call it, with us. We told our head of dino research, Collin, to try to find a way to make the glue last forever.
"But Builder..." Collin asked. "I can't imagine that you want to glue your houses together, what is it needed for?"
"Do you remember that strange green tower? The obelisk? Well we told you about the Broodmother, the giant spider, well, we saw Dilophosaurus' walking past it because of this acid."
"You think the Broodmother is vulnerable to this acid? Of all the strong creatures there are, you think it's this low life Dilo's acid?"
"See for yourself."
I took the recording spyglass out and pressed the replay button. After a few minutes Collin said: "Okay I will research the best I can with the acid. But I won't make any promises. None of us know anything about it except for it being corrosive and blinding."
"That's alright, we can wait as long as needed."
Max and I went back to our homes. Mac lives in the tallest building I made, in the very middle of the city. I on the other hand, I still don't like this new and improved city. I liked the old buildings more, and so I live just outside the city, of course with defences here, Max helped me set it up. My house is still made of wood and stones. But the best part is the person inside waiting for me. Inside was the best person in the city, Autumn. We didn't do much the rest of the day, but as the night came in, she made me a delicious stew and we went to bed.
