(Female reader x Boze)
I had a bad feeling about everything. In the spur of the moment I decided not to go to my parents thanksgiving, and I decided to spend it with my girlfriend's family who I've never met and for all I know could be homophobic instead. I desperately wanted to scream 'I changed my mind!' and run into my room, jump into bed and pull the blankets over my head.
But here I was driving in the car with Boze headed to Virginia to see her family. She was telling me about her family. "They were alittle weird about it when I came out but they didn't kick me out or tell me I was a sinner so that's a good sign." She said. That calmed my nerves indefinitely.
"Do you know who all is gonna be there?" I ask. "My mom and Dad obviously, my 16 year old brother, two sets of aunts and uncles, my grandma, my older cousins, and my younger cousins." She tells me. I was starting to get increasingly worried. What if they hated me?
"Oh also they call me Ericka not Boze." She tells me. I smile. I love her first name but I don't know if she'd mind me calling her by it. She's always been Boze to me.
I couldn't get past the fact that I was meeting Boze's family for the first time. I was dying to make a great first impression, but I was also sure I was going to make a fool of myself. The car ride seemed to never end until we finally after what seemed like days pulled up to the house. Cars were already lined up and down the driveway.
Boze turned to me with a smile on her face. I gave her a nervous smile and grabbed my hand giving it a swueeze. "They'll love you." She tells me. She lets go of my hand opening her door. I follow in suit. "I hope so." I mutter to myself. She intertwines our fingers and we walk up to the front door. She gave it a knock and we waited. I heard people talking and joking before hearing footsteps near the door. I got more and more anxious as the footsteps got louder.
The door swung open and I was greeted by a woman. She looked alot like Boze but much older. "Ericka you made it!" She exclaimed engulfing her in a hug. "Yeah I left alittle later than normal. You know I wouldn't miss this for the world ma." She hugged back. They let go and her moms gaze fell to me. "And who is this?" She smiled. I saw her smile drop alittle as her eyes landed to our hands that were interlaced again.
"Mom, this is (Y/n) my girlfriend." She said confidently. I envied her confidence. I could never in a million years do that. Not even if my parents accepted me. I'd be too worried about everything they're thinking about me. I smiled at her mom who looked at me kind of surprised. "Oh." She breathed. "Welcome to the family sweetheart." Her smiled returned as she brought me into a hug. I felt a wash of relief go over me. She didn't immediately hate me. Thats a good sign.
We walk in and Boze introduces me to everyone before we go and set our stuff down in the room we're staying in. Boze's older cousin walks in smiling widely. He looks at me and then back to Boze. "Is she the lucky girl Ericka?" He asked. She nodded smiling. "Yes. (Y/n), this is my favorite cousin, Aaron." She introduced us. I shook his hand.
"I'm so glad she found someone." He smiled at me. He walked out closing the door behind us. I turned to her and smiled. "Your family seems to like me." I say. "I know! I'm so happy!" She exclaims. She pulls me into a kiss and I kiss back. I was so happy that they liked me. "Girls its time for dinner!" Someone shouts. "To be continued." I sigh out as we pull away. She smiles and pecks my cheek before we walk out. Everyone stood in a circle around a table with food on it.
Everyone joins hands and they bow their heads. I follow in suit and they say grace. After that everyone geabs what they want buffet style and goes finding a seat on the couch. I look to Boze confused. "My family's really big on football. They sit infront of the tv and yell at it depending on how the game is going." She whispers to me. I nod and make my way out to the living room. Boze took a seat on the floor and I took a seat next to her.
"So (Y/n), do you know anything about football?" One of her uncles asked. "I know a basics. I came from a family who watches every game." I say. "Well great. You'll fit right in." He smiled at me. I smiled back and we started watching. By halftime I was invested in the game. I was remembering everything I leaned when I was younger with my family.
After the game we all dug into the desserts. I was pleasantly surprised with how much they liked me. We went into the room and I changed into some pajamas. We laid down and I pulled Boze to my chest. "They really like me Ericka." I whispered. She turned to me smiling. "They do. I'm really happy they do." She whispered. I pressed my lips to hers and she kissed me back. She turned back around and I held her as we fell asleep.
