"Hey, you awake ?" Carl whispered from next to her as she rolled over and nodded. "Did you have a nightmare, you were wincing in your sleep and I think my heart broke a little. Was it about prison ?" he asked as she rolled over again so her back was facing him and he wrapped his arms around her shoulders. "It wasn't a nightmare necessarily. It was a good dream. Mom was in it" she said while smiling as he looked at her. "Tell me about it" he said, just wanting to hear her talk for a while.
Michelle "Shelley" Milkovich was the most beautiful, kind and strongest woman to ever walk the streets of the South Side. She had to tough side to her which she had to have given the circumstances. She married Terry too many years ago, they were madly in love and together the pair had six children. The woman was always more protective towards Missy due to her being the youngest.
Terry wasn't always the way he was, he turned to drinking once Shelley was diagnosed with cancer when Missy was three because he was too in denial about her dying. Michelle was too aware that Terry's drinking was becoming extreme. To try and prevent her children getting hurt she'd send Mandy to her aunt and Missy to her grandmothers. She always let the boys stay with Terry because she knew they'd have to toughen up somehow. It wasn't the best method but it was all she knew. Missy's grandmother was too aware that Shelley was dying and didn't want Missy to be around that. She was also getting to old to care for her and although she thought Terry was a "good for nothing" he was all Missy had.
"Like I just said, mom was it. But it was like a normal day, except I was at Mickey's and it was all eight of us. We were sitting at the table eating pancakes and my mom was smiling. The biggest smile I've ever see" she began as Carl stroked her face. "You were there too" she began as he furrowed his eyebrows. "But we were way older, I'd say early twenties and we both had rings so take that how you will" she said as she turned around and faced him. "Carl. What are we ?" she whispered as she heard her phone blowing up with notifications.
She picked it up and saw a text from Veronica.
V: Missy come home right now ! DCFS and your social worker are on my doorstep !!!That was enough to get her out of bed, she was pulling on random clothes from the floor, one being Carl's zip-up but she was too frantic to think about it. "Social worker and DCFS came to Kev and V's" she said panicked as Carl shot out of bed. "Oh fuck" he said shocked as she nodded. "Fucking G-Dog" she shouted about to walk out. "Miss. Wait for Me" he shouted after her as the pair ran back to the her house. There was no time to waste.
"Marissa, hi" her social worker Cindy said while her glasses further up the bridge of her nose. "It's Missy" she said coldly as she took a seat next to Svetlana who had her arms wrapped around Amy. "Have you been handling drugs ?" she asked as the girl shrugged, the question was subjective. "I've done my time for it, you would've known if you actually cared" she said coldly as Cindy looked at her blankly. "I've gotten a report saying you smashed a medicine cabinet and sold the produce" she said, still in a monotone voice as V led her to the kitchen where the medicine cabinet was. "This was fucking G-Dog" Missy whispered as Svetlana shook her head. "It was big scary drug dealer" she said as she pulled the toddler, Jemma closer to her. "But why is there drugs here in the first place ?" Cindy argued as V followed. "I work in a retirement home. It's a shithole. I need my own supplies" she said annoyed but it was enough for Cindy.
"Mickey. Isn't it ? You mightn't be the most fit to look after her but you're all she has. Otherwise I'll have to look into a replacement family. Will you do it ?" Cindy said annoyed as Mickey looked up. "Do what ?" he said while sipping a beer. "Look after your sister" she said obviously as he nodded. "She's safe with us" V shouted as Cindy turned to face her. "She's been with us since she was five. She's well looked after" she then said as Kev nodded. "I'm married to someone else but I'm married to V. Mightn't be legal but we are and V's married to Svetlana. She used to a prostitute but she's not anymore and we mightn't have gotten along at first and sure she's Mickeys ex wife and baby mama but-" he began but V swatted him and told him to shut up. "Missy is to stay with her brother until I can get someone out here to re-evaluate this whole situation" Cindy said and with that she left. "I'm not getting out of this" Missy whispered as Carl sat next to her. "What do you mean" he whispered as he put his arm around her. "This is G-Dogs way of trapping me. He's going to go to you next. Then Mickey. Then Mandy. Then Ian. Take you all down at once. The people I care about" she said before bursting into tears. "You're not doing anything for that man Missy. You hear me. Now Fi. Get that baseball bat" V said confidently as Fiona nodded but Mickey shook his head. "No. No. Too easy. The dude will be still breathing. What you need is a gun, a rifle. Shoot him. He won't be able to wake up. I can cover it all up. My dad. He'd know it. Of course. I won't be talking to him. But if Missy visits then-" he began as V said Missy wasn't going near him. "Why aren't you and dad talking ?" she said confused. "Mickey came out and your dad tried to beat the shit out of us. He also forced Mickey to marry Lana" Ian said while staring into space. "Did you take your meds today ?" Debbie said trying to be considerate but it just made Ian give her a death glare.
"Meds ?" she said confused. "Ian's clinically bipolar like Monica" Fiona said trying to explain but Missy just nodded and smiled at Ian. "Let's get you home then" Mickey said while shrugging as she tapped Carl and he knew to stand up with her. "You're not actually taking her" V said confused as Mickey shrugged. "Why the fuck not ? I was assigned too" he said like it was obvious as V folded her arms. "When the fuck did you ever do anything you were told ?" she said as he flipped her off. "Come on Miss" Mickey said as Carl and her followed him out. "Mandy got a new job. She's away for weeks at a time. Take her room. You know where everything is" Mickey said as he took his cigarette from behind his ear and placed it in his mouth before sitting on the couch.
"Who the fuck is that ?" Carl said while pointing at a guy sitting on the couch. "Oh him. Friend of Iggys. Think his name is like Midge or something" he said while shrugging as the guy stood up. "Yeah I'm Mike. Must be Missy" he said as she nodded. "Yes I am she" she said sarcastically as Mike laughed. "You're funny" he said as she nodded and led Carl to her room.
"You can stay with me if you want. There's no rules here" she said through a shrug as he nodded and sat on the bed, he was silent for a few seconds before talking. "Y'know how you asked what we were" he said as she nodded back at him. "I think we should maybe, I don't know, call ourselves friends for now" he said as she shrugged. "Whatever" she said calmly but really it was killing her. She was falling harder and harder for Carl everyday and it was mutual but the pair were too scared to do anything about it incase they broke their years of friendship. "But we're friends who like to kiss and stuff. Especially infront of Dom" he said as she shrugged. "She only wants your money anyway" she said while sighing as Carl nodded. "Exactly see you get it" he said not sensing how sad she was.
