Third person p.o.v

It was a typical Monday evening in Georgia. The sun was setting but the stifling heat lingered, a slight breeze finally setting in as the head of the petrova family pulled into driveway.
In a matter of seconds, Nikolina was in the house and removing her shoes. Katherine not too far behind her.

"Katy, Your mom and i are home!" Katherine shouted, making her way into the kitchen. The sound of small feet hitting hard wood filled the two vampires ears as a rambunctious 7 year old ran into the foyer.

"Mommy! Grandma Kathy! Guess what?!" Katlyn exclaimed as she slammed into her mother's side. The small child was an exact replica of her grandmother when she wad her age. Long, curly chocolate colored hair and tanned skin, but her eyes made her strikingly different. Both her grandmother and mother had dark brown, almost black eyes. Katlyn had the same beautiful carmel colored eyes her father had.

Nikolina smiled softly at her daughter and ran her hand through her long brown locks. "What happened? Did your tooth finally fall out?" The young mother questioned curiously, matching her daughters excitement.

"Yeah! It came out during lunch." Katlyn grinned, showing off her missing front tooth. "There was a lot of blood."

Nikolina giggled at her daughter's statement, an overwhelming sense of pride filling the young woman. "Remember to put your tooth under your pillow for the tooth fairy." She reminded her daughter before sending her to play in the backyard whilst her and Katherine prepared dinner.

The young brunnette stepped into the kitchen to find her mother chopping an onion. "You really need to stop spoiling her, We can't eat chili dogs all the time." She scolded the older woman as she pulled the pack of hot dogs from the refridgerator.

"I know, but i can't help it. It's like raising you all over again." Katherine stated as she finished up dicing the onions. "Could you turn on the t.v? I wanna see what's on the news."

Scoffing at her mother's laziness, Nikolina leaned over the counter and turned on the t.v.

"Breaking news: There is a new disease spreading through Georgia. The cause of infection is through a bite . The illness begins with coughing, fever, coughing up blood and death. After you die, you are reanimated. Stay inside and do not leave. If one gets near you, destroy the brain " the news anchor rambled in a panic causing the two vampires to spring into action.

Nikolina sped out of the kitchen and out the back door to find her worst nightmare had come true. A trail of blood lead to the lifeless corpse of her daughter as two men ate her flesh. No, those weren't men. Those were monsters.

Screams were heard from neighboring houses, but it was as if the world had stopped. Rushing foward, Salem ripped the monster's heads clean off their shoulders and tossed their bloodied bodies away from her daughter. A cry of despair left Nikolina as she fell to her knees, clutching her daughter's lifeless body to her chest.

"K-Katy please wake up, this isn't funny." Nikolina cried out, shaking Katlyn but it was no use. "No, this wasn't supposed to happen, wake up please."

A choked sob was hear behind the mourning mother, signalling the arrival of the eldest petrova. Katherine stumbled forward, kneeling at her daughter's side. The smell of blood overwhelming her senses, causing her eyes to turn a frightening shade of red as black veins appeared under her eyes. Now was not the time for Katherine to let her daughter break down. She needed to save her remaining family. She knew what needed to be done.
