darkness clashed with light.

thunder roared.
wind howled.

the heavens shook in protest

as the two deities,
both who could not live without the other
who could not exist if not for the other
engaged in their last dance of fury.

the darkness screamed.

a cacophony of sorrow and hatred
but the light did not waver
in its undying warmth

the light sang.

it sang, and a breeze as fresh as the spring stream
coursed its way through into the broken ruins
like church bells entrapped by the summer air

it was pure.

it was undying love.

it was unlike anything the darkness had heard before.

it reminded the darkness of vitality, of youth
of life.

the darkness listened.

the light stood alone amidst the darkness
and yet it was not afraid

the light shone alone in the darkness
and the darkness could not comprehend it

the light made the darkness want to remember

and remember it did.
