So I had invited Jared out for lunch today. I don't know why, but I felt I needed to talk to him. Everyone has a problem these past few days and if I resolve the one I have, it's one less to worry about.

"This is your first Thanksgiving out of prison..excited?" He asks.

"Yeah. I wanna see how Symere's roasted bibles taste like." I say

"I hear they taste amazing." He says jokingly, making us both laugh.

Things aren't as awkward between Jared and I. Of course after the time he came here into my work.

So telling him should be easier now.

"How was prison?"

"How WAS it?" I asked, wide eyed.

"Not..it's..if you don't want to talk about it-"

"No it's fine, I just didn't think you'd want to know how prison was."

"Was it fun?"

"Yeah, it was so fucking fun. Doing 23 and 1 every single day."

"What's 23 and 1?"

You're locked in your cell for 23 hours, then after that, you only have 1 hour of recreation."

"Don't you come out for lunch? Dinner? Breakfast?"

"That's all done in the 1 hour we have outside our cell. After that, you go back to your cell with your cell mate and sit in there, in the dark, no books, no light. You can talk to your cell mate if you have one, or if you have one."

"Tay was your cell mate?"

"Yeah. I was alone for like 3 months until they gave me Tay. I only had one year and he was literally facing life. He wasn't scary, he was pretty short and skinny for an 18 year old that was on the run for capital murder."

"How's he like?"

"He was a great guy, even though everyday he'd practice his gang signs. I called it the mating call for arthritis."

"He was in a gang?"

"I guess. He was a great guy with a good personality. He made the time I did there easier, even though I never get to see him again. He got on my nerves sometimes. He stabbed my asscheek with a fork because I took the cheese off his sandwich."

"Why would you do that?"

"It was revenge for stealing my cheese."

"Damn, you must've had a hard time."

"Sometimes.."

"Well..you did your time and I'm happy you're out."

Things between me and Jared are easing up a little bit. It's not like we haven't talked for a long time but it was still a little bit weird for him to come into my work like that but I'm glad he did because I probably wouldn't have ever talked to him again.

So it should be easy for me to tell him.

"Kim, I-"

"Jared, I like you, And even though I freaked out that time at the movies and said that I never wanted to talk about it, it made me realize that I am not who I think I was." I said. Jared looked at me shocked. "And...Tay...did eat my ass once in jail."

I don't know why I felt the need to admit that second part. I kinda regret it.

"I wasn't going to tell you at all, I was going to ignore it. At the time I thought that was best and thought you wouldn't even feel that way anyway. But for me to hold it in was unbearable."

He looked at me as if he was studying something on my face, I genuinely didn't know what he was thinking.

"You act like the most straight guy in the world, I never thought you'd feel the same way." He says finally. "The time after I took us home, I called my mom and I told her I was gay. She didn't believe me, and she still doesn't..she said that she wanted me to prove it. Then and there I knew I couldn't because you didn't feel the same way."

"I do though."

"I know that now.." He says. "But uh..you really got ate out by Tay?"

"Please don't bring that up to everyone." I pleased jokingly. He chuckled, "You're secret is safe with me."

"Everyone is gay." Jared saying chuckling.

"I hate to admit it, but you're right." I said. Now that's that, I can finally relate to Jahseh.

He reached over to give me a kiss but I pulled back,

"Wait, were in public." I said.

"Since when did you care about what other think? Come here.." I rolled my eyes and let our lips touch.

Honestly, I can get used to this.

"So you mean to tell me.." Jahseh says, "That you told your parents..my name was Jahsayla, and that I was a girl?"

I gulped and nodded. He looked at my blankly then started laughing.

"Why didn't you just tell the truth, kid?"

"Because! I hesitated..."

"Why didn't you jut say you didn't have a somebody?" He asks.

"I don't even know..but they said they're going to call me more often in order to see who Jahsayla is."

Jahseh sighs while rubbing the bridge of his nose, "Stoke, why. Why. Why. Why did-" he stops himself to let out a short laugh. "I can't even get mad, this situation is too funny."

"What should I do, Jahseh, I need your help."

"Ask Jahsayla to help you."

"I don't have a Jahsayla!"

Jahseh sighs. "Well..I do know someone that could help you."

"I thought you didn't get along with girls."

"I do, just the right ones." He says. "But if want to be messy instead of being straight up..I got you."

"Are you serious? What's the girl's name?" I asked.

"Her name is Ayleks. I met her a few years ago in a detention center."

"You don't have to do this, Jahseh."

"I know I don't have to. But for your sake, I will." He replies.

I smile and give him a peck on the lips then a hug. "Thank you."

"Only for you." He replies.
