Evander ended up eating five muffins, so neither Synyc or Corr won their bet. In fact, the breakfast get together was cut short by General Hextaar.
"Captain, you're with me," he said abruptly as he rushed by. Synyc hastily got up and jogged after him.
"General, what's going on?" He asked.
"Oh you know, the usual chaos. You'll get used to it. We are going to fully integrate with the Yavin base due to the fact that about half our people got killed. Our crew is simply too small to sustain our own base," Hextaar explained. "I've spoken with the leaders here and they've agreed to let the grouping remain the same. You'll get command of a small team of your choosing from the old base, but I'll remain your General in all large matters. Understand?"
Synyc tried to keep up and process everything as it was thrown at him. "I believe so. I get to handpick my crew from the people from our old base?"
"Correct."
"How many people?"
"It's flexible. You can have as few as three fighters, including yourself, but I'd recommend either a medic or a tech expert with fighting capabilities. You can trust me, I've had plenty of personal experience," Hextaar said with a light chuckle.
Synyc nodded. "Sounds good. Where are we going now?"
"To work, Captain Drea."
Everyone went about the rest of their day a bit aimlessly, except for Corr. He knew full well that any medical ward could use help. That being said, he was hard at work.
Synyc was in a dimly lit command room getting himself up to speed with the goings on of Yavin. There was a million recon missions going on every day and countless attack plans of various Imperial sites. How many attacks they actually went through with was the real question.
It was a huge step up for Synyc. He'd come from a tiny base where everybody knew everybody else. Everything here was official and moved quickly and efficiently.
Before he knew it, the sun had set and it was pitch black outside. He got on his comm and rang up his crew. "We've got our first assignment, everyone. Meet in my room."
"I wonder what this is going to be," Flint said as he walked with Jolie and Evander.
Evander shrugged. "Probably gonna involve lots of violence and criminal activity."
Jolie laughed a bit to herself, knowing Flint and Evander were used to that kind of stuff.
Then the trio returned to an awkward silence. Even without the Force, Flint could sense a strange uncomfortableness between Jolie and Evander. He knew they were a thing before Jolie got captured so he assumed they'd just pick up where they left off. But then again, Flint has never been in a relationship before or really had serious feelings for someone. It just wasn't something he worried about. Evander, on the other hand, had always been concerned with finding love.
It seemed like en eternity before they made it to Synyc's room. Evander opened the door and waltzed in with the other two in tow, shrugging to one another.
"Thanks for knocking," Synyc said sarcastically as he stood from his small table.
Evander smirked,"Anytime."
"Is Corr coming?" Flint asked.
"Yeah. He should be here soon. Some more Rebels just came back from a nasty fight so he's been working around the clock," Synyc replied.
"Damn," Evander remarked.
Synyc didn't really respond, he just changed the subject. "What have you guys been up to?"
