Jarod was rushed to the medical ward alongside a few other critically wounded soldiers. Corr went with them, of course, and Synyc stayed back. General Hextaar walked into the hangar bay where all the sound members of the entire team were congregating.
"Congratulations, everyone on a successful mission!" He had a proud, beaming smile.
"I'll be in touch with the Captains here in the coming days in anything you'll need to know as well as the follow up mission with the stolen goods you all got." He cleared his voice and had a somber look on his face. "I need everyone from my old base to hang back."Synyc and the team all exchanged a worried look and walked over. A few others also followed.
"I wanted to update you all on the General Fall situation." He crossed his arms. "As you know, we have our suspicions on her involvement in the attack. Rebel Spies are now trying to get intel on the situation. If you hear anything at all regarding her or her duties, please tell me or your Captains."
Everyone nodded and chimed in with agreement.
"Thanks, everyone. Great job today." He smiled and patted a few people on the back as he passed by. Synyc stood and jogged after him.
"General, I have a question actually," he said hastily but in a quiet tone.
Hextaar paused and turned, narrowing his eyes and speaking in a quiet tone as well.
"What's going on?""Will General Fall target us directly?"
He shook his head. "It's improbable that she'll target us, with one exception..."
"Jolie?"
"Yes. We are looking into the specific situation with Jolie because she presents a larger threat to everyone," Hextaar explained.
"Sir, I promise you her value is immeasurable," Synyc desperately assured him. "I've known her since I was a kid and trust me—we need her."
"You have nothing to worry about," Hextaar said. "Someone with her abilities is a once and a lifetime opportunity. We may just need to account for who in the Empire is trying to get her back."
Synyc let out a breathe. "Okay. Good. Thank you, General."
Hextaar smiled,"Anytime, Captain." As he began to walk off he turned to add something. "And good work recruiting that girl!"
"That was all Jolie!" He he replied.
Synyc loosely saluted him and smiled back. Hextaar was off to keep working while Synyc and his crew got the day to rest up.
By the time he walked back over Flint and Evander were gone. He looked at Jolie with a questioning look. "Where'd they go?"
Jolie shrugged. "I dunno." They began to walk off. "Maybe they're having a muffin eating contest."
Synyc laughed. "It's quite the bromance.
I never really expected that."Jolie nodded in agreement. "They definitely are the odd couple here."
Flint and Evander had gone off to Flint's quarters. The room was lit by the blue light of Flint's Holocron as they stared at it from his bed. He didn't have a couch.
The mood was incredibly somber, especially compared to their recent victory.
"You're right. The Jedi are just... gone," Evander said with a blank stare.
Flint had shown him what he'd been able to find on the state of the Jedi after Order 66. Every article and report on the Holonet, every mention of them, all of it. They'd been too afraid to discuss it, aside from the probability of Synyc's survival.
