"Myra! Credence!" Newt called from the door from his case to the blonde's cottage.

Credence was the first one in the room, Viride curled up around his shoulders, and was closely followed by his adoptive mother. Who was soon followed by a little black Ignis loquitur, who flapped his wings excitedly when he saw the wizard. Noctis leapt forward, attaching himself to Newt's leg. Aurum, however, trailed behind lazily, a yawn escaping out of her maw.

"Did your hearing go well?" Myra asked, pulling out a bowl of leftover stew for her boyfriend, "Here you go, I'm assuming you haven't had lunch yet."

"Uhhh... Miss Kegley..." the witch turned at the sound of Credence's voice, finally catching the panicked look on her Echo's face.

"What happened?"

"They know you're here."

Myra brows wrinkled, not understanding why he seemed so worried, "Why should that matter? We didn't smuggle ourselves into Paris."

"They've put a hit out on Credence."

"What do you mean they've put a hit out on Credence?" Myra's voice went loud and just a tad shrill, and Credence flinched back a bit, which she couldn't tell was because of either her tone or the news itself.

"The Ministry, the only way I was getting my travel ban lifted was if I agreed to go kill Credence!" Newt's voice was getting frantic, though not as loud as Myra's had gotten, "I mean, I clearly didn't agree, I would never. But they're sending someone else, a beast hunter!"

"Why are they after me?" Credence's voice sounded quietly from where he stood in the corner of the kitchen, "What've I done?"

"You haven't done anything as far as I know, it's just their fear of Grindelwald, I think," Newt replied, reaching out a reassuring had to both Kegleys, which was immediately latched onto by Noctis.

"We'll be out as soon as we find Credence's mom, she lives here in the city. We shouldn't be more than a few days," the blonde promised, "Then I'll be having quite the talk with President Picquery and the Minister of Magic."

"What if they find us before then?" Credence's voice was shaky and he had a tight grip on his wand.

"Then they'll have me to deal with," Myra set a comforting hand on his shoulder, "They won't get you. I promise. And I don't-"

"Break your promises," Credence finished softly.

"And other than that travel ban thing, I really don't have anything I need to do," Newt started, picking at his stew with a spoon he'd gotten from "I'll come too."

Myra blinked, "You're kidding me, right? You have an international travel ban. Paris is not in England, Newt."

"Well, yeah, but..." Newt trailed off when a crash sounded from beyond the door that led to his case, "I should probably figure out what that is."

Myra pursed her lips at Newt's I'm-just-an-innocent-magizoologist head tilt, "We are not done with this conversation. This will not be the lions all over again."

"Yeah, okay," Newt scooted back towards the door, away from his girlfriend's patronizing stare, "I'll be right back."

The witch waited until he was gone to burst out laughing, Noctis had latched onto his back and was eating his suspenders. Credence looked at her, confused,

"Aren't you mad at him?"

"No," Myra smiled, containing a few more giggles that threatened to slip out, "I just have to make sure he's not going to get himself killed or arrested. He doesn't really think about that kind of stuff himself."

"Oh," the young wizard replied softly, a small smile breaking out on his face too.

Hello! I'm back with chapter one! How was everyone's day? I wasn't quite sure how to transition from this chapter to the next so I hope the end wasn't too awkward. (I'm watching 'the youtube channel allonsy.mp4 while writing this author's note so I can't stop laughing) Anyway, I hope you all had a fantastic day, and I'll see you all again on Monday with chapter two!!
