Author's note: This is the worst chapter I've ever written. Like it's 'Because Of Lauren' bad, try not to lose any brain cells while reading it!

MACKENZIE'S POV:

Hayden and I had left a little early, right before Faith did, actually. He didn't want to leave Johnny waiting too long, and reassured the student teacher that both of us would put in twice as much the work on our next session.

Hayden distracted me on our walk to his house. Dirty jokes, sucky puns, knock-knock jokes– you name it. My thoughts were thankfully distracted by Hayden, leaving me no time to panic and turn the other way. That's something I do very often and I wouldn't be surprised if that turned out to be the main issue standing in the way of me winning his bet.

But once Hayden's jokes died down, and we reached the stairs, I went onto full panicked mode.

Hayden casually had his hands in his pocket, lightly whistling under his breath an unrecognizable pattern, my anxiety non-existent to him. Intense butterflies swarmed my stomach in an instant, once I took in the fact that I'm about to meet my crush for the first time. Actually speak words to him.

My palms did that thing they always do again, they sweat up. My forehead was becoming awfully quite heated, and my breath was so shaky to the point where I had to take deep breaths just to calm myself down.

I more than anything didn't want to mess up. To say something stupid, or embarrass myself and accidentally snort out of nowhere. Hayden's head aimlessly directed to me, discerning my frightened state. He only chuckles. "Relax, Johnny's a nice guy."

I politely hummed my response, clapping my hands together and gripping them tightly. I observed my surroundings. We were right next to Hayden's door, and Hayden's gum was almost as loud as my thoughts were at the moment. His loud chewing reminded me an awful lot of Lauren's gum at the cafeteria, but that was the last thing to cross my mind with everything that was going on.

Hayden's whistling came to a stop. "Are you going to go into my room, or not?"

I flinched my head to him, softly smiling. "Yeah. Just... give my a second." Hayden then continued to chew his gum, me inhaling one last breath before confirming to Hayden that I am now ready to enter the room.

Hayden pushed past his door with ease, allowing me to enter right after him.

My bare feet landed onto Hayden's gray carpeted floor. I had laid my shoes outside when I first came in, Hayden mentioning that his bedroom floor wasn't like most. Black socks covered my feet. The walls were striped white and gray, the fur on my feet giving me a sense of comfort.

Looking around the room, I happily sigh at the view of a boy's room. I don't remember the last time I've ever witnessed this. The room didn't smell too good, a small stench of stinky gym clothes could be detected without much difficulty.

My eyes landed on Hayden's bed, where a familiar skinny figure laid across it, his phone blocking me from admiring his face. My heart jumps out of my chest, and Hayden's reassuring glance was all that kept me from immediately sprinting out of the room.
