MACKENZIE'S POV:

My hands interlocked through the green-eyed boys soft and delicate yet muscular palm. Johnny and I were currently seated at a large table, located at a closed off cafe. Faith, Annie, Hayden, Lexi, and Jayden accompanying us.

We'd graduated year 12 days ago, and just now did we decide to do a celebratory get-together with the rest of our friend group.

Johnny and I had juggled two months worth of work whilst running away. We'd only been gone for a month, yet exams, texts, and university applications were all rushed once we'd gotten home. Once we'd gotten back, I'd had to spend constant all-nighters to catch myself up on school work.

Regardless, I don't at all regret leaving home for a while. Johnny and I had gone on our own light adventures. We lingered at a motel, Johnny had guaranteed me he wouldn't vandalize ever again, we pulled hundreds of pranks, and discovered a quite unpopular cafe near the motel we'd been staying at.

I felt well. My mind was in a magnificent place. I didn't have immense pressure on my shoulders and I consumed all my time around the person whom I love. The healing my soul needed had been fulfilled, and I'd informed Johnny it was time to go home one month into our journey.

To this day, I'm not exactly sure what the purpose of running away was. Was it Because Of Lauren (A/N: haha see what I did there)? Or was this really a break I needed for myself?

The letter's I'd mailed to both Faith and Annie was taken to heart, apparently. As they'd both informed Ms. Chee of the damage Lauren had done the past year, and the injuries she'd caused Faith. Ms. Chee had taken action, and informed the police.

Lauren was quick to defend herself, singing the fact that Johnny had vandalized a building and I'd taken a role in the criminal activity as well. Once we'd gotten back home, Johnny and I were forced into loads of community service.

My education, issues with friends, and picking up garbage was more than enough to fill up my schedule. Besides the occasional glares in the school halls, I rarely see nor speak to Lauren. And it's better to keep it that way.

Faith, Annie, and Hayden were the first to reach out to Johnny and I once we'd gotten back to our hometown. Jayden had spoken to me privately and we've been close friends ever since.

I'd decided to further pursue my passion for writing. My marks were well enough, so I'd applied for a 2-year writing course at a near university. I'd already begun writing my own book, putting every ounce of effort into it and hoping it'll actually get somewhere.

Now that you're all caught up on my life evolution the past month, I'd just like to say thank y–

"–Don't moan near him too hard. Even he will think you're whiny," Johnny read aloud from my phone, chuckling to himself as I snatched the phone from his hold. The entire table began cracking up.

Maddie.

I only sighed, not the least bit startled.

"You know," Johnny grinned an extensive grin as he cast his arms around me. An immense weight physically now on my shoulders, I shift into a comfortable position. "You're like my own little princess, one that I have all to myself."

Not able to prevent myself, I smile the biggest grin I've formed the last year. Darn it, I'm so in love.

The table flew back into small conversations. Faith and Lexi were growing quite cozy near each other. Hayden, Annie, and Jayden appearing like stunted children and executing a game of Truth Or Dare.

I smile a genuine smile at the view, grasping onto my tea and sipping it gently. With Johnny's arms still wrapped around me, I take some time to reflect on the past year.

I'd made the best friends I ever have in the last 17 years of my existence. My anxiety had eased off of me. I'd tackled two evil blondes in a battle and won. But most importantly, I fell in love. I fell head over heels with a green-eyed boy that's changed my life permanently.

As I was saying before Johnny had interrupted me, I'd just like to say thank you. I'd like to thank all of my readers for reading the story of life. My first ever book. A piece of writing I'll forever hold dear to my heart. Thank you, kind and considerate people, for picking up this book to read. I'm praying you learned at the least, a single piece of information from these pages.

It's never too late to change your life around. Be bold, always.

For the last time, thank you so much for reading Princess.
