Meet Her New Parents

"W-why?" my bottom lip quivers.

"Because I don't. I can't see her. Hell, I don't even wanna hear her cries... but I have to be there for you during birth" he pauses. "Light, we did research on that family and they're perfect for Riley! We contacted them..." he looks at the road, trying to form words.

I burst out crying. "Just say it and stop sparing my feelings"

"They want her" he sighs.

I cover my mouth and cry. "No... no..."

After minutes of me crying and Slade speeding, we arrive to his house and I storm in, running to his room to cry.

"Hey..." Slade sits next to me as I cry. "Babe... we anticipated this. She needs a perfect family that is far away. That's exactly what this family is! Here... I'm sure this will make you feel better-"

"Nothing will make me feel better, Slade!" I look at him.

He rubs my back. "They're flying down to meet us next morn. It was suppose to be a surprise for you, but none of this is surprising. It's hurting. I want you to meet the family of our baby, Light. I really do"

I hug him and cry. "This is really happening"

He sighs and wraps his arms around me. "I'm so sorry..."

"They're about to pull up" Whisper wipes her tears.

I hug her and she frowns.

"Ready?" Slade takes a deep breath.

I pull back and walk over to him, holding his hand anxiously.

Thorn sighs. "I can't be here for this shit" he walks off and Whisper runs off with him as well.

Someone knocks on the door and I whimper as I'm about to cry.

Slade kisses my temple before opening the door... to reveal a lovely couple. "Hi! Slade and Beth?" the lady as sweetly.

Slade nods. "Yea... yea"

"Nice to meet you guys! I'm David" the man says.

"Rebecca" the woman smiles.

I shake their hands and sit on the couch.

"Light..." Slade looks at me. "Uh, follow me" he tells the couple and they nod with a smile before Slade sits them down.

Rebecca smiles. "What beautiful teenagers... I'm sure Riley is gonna be gorgeous!"

"Thank you" I hiccup.

"Thanks" Slade smiles. "I'm sure you're excited to meet her in four months?"

They nod. "Definitely! We've been searching for years for a baby. We could never find the right one... and if we thought we did, the child would already be adopted" David says.

"Yea... years of heartbreak for not being able to have a family destroyed us. And Riley... she seems so perfect! And meeting her parents, we know she's gonna be perfect in every way!" Rebecca smiles.
