I looked in the mirror that was on the wall. I was skeleton thin. Not that I wasn't already thin, of course but one hundred and one years of stasis don't keep your body pristine. Oh well, they might've for Mr Arrogance there, Impa had said. Impa...that name is familiar.
...
Back when Zelda and I were growing up, there was a Sheikah woman who would take care of Zelda. Her name was Impa. She used to frighten me a little, but I got to know her and she taught me all I knew about swords. I was that skilled, I became the Princess' Personal Sword-Maiden, there for her constantly. Until, she became obsessed with the ancient sheikah technology, and constantly went on about the sheikah and their shrines and their divine beasts and carried this "slate" around with her. Her mission was deemed too dangerous to have me tag along, because I was a woman. So they replaced her personal sword-maiden with a man. I never met the man, I was always tasked with hovering around the King. That fateful day the Calamity struck, the King had said to me to spend the day with Zelda, to enjoy each other's company like we used to for a day. Although I was grateful for getting to be with her again, I regret not staying with the King. Even if I might've ended up like him. Dead.
"Miss, uh..."
"My name is Frost," I said, looking at her kindly. I wasn't one to snap at a young woman, especially one so kind to get me a drink.
"Miss Frost," Paya bowed respectfully, "how are you now?"
"I am fine, a little weak but I am fine," I spoke, my voice back to normal.
"Are you up to eating? My grandma says dinner is almost ready," she asked.
"Oh yes please! Its been ages since I last ate," I smiled.
"I can get two of the guards to bring you down, or I could bring your dinner up to you, whichever you choose," she offered.
"I'm sure I could manage walking down on my own," I said confidently. Paya looked at me like I'd told her I could colour sheep pink with my tongue.
"No offence Miss Frost, but you honestly don't look like you could hold your weight," she said.
"A little nap couldn't possibly hold me down," I said, "even if it were for a hundred and one years," I gingerly peeled the blankets back and swung my emaciated legs over the side of the bed. They were surely atrophied but I was confident I could do it. The second my feet touched the ground I went to stand, and my whole skeleton made a shuddering crunch noise.
"Miss!" Paya yelled, running to catch me.
"I told you you weren't strong enough yet!"
I was rather disgruntled. This pathetic form was crunching and breaking under my measly body weight. I couldn't protect the Princess or myself like this.
Two guards rushed into the room, "What's happening?" They asked.
"Could we bring her some food? And maybe some healing potions?" Paya asked.
"We must take her to Lady Impa," they said, gently moving to scoop me into their arms.
"Are you sore anywhere, Lady Frost?" They asked.
"I'm not sure," I answered honestly. All I felt crunch was my ankles, knees and probably everything.
"We'll get you some food as soon as we get you to Lady Impa," the one holding my feet and legs said.
The guards stood before Impa, who looked at me like I was insane.
"She tried to do what?" She asked, incredulously.
"She tried to get up and walk, grandmother," Paya knelt in front of her.
"Is she okay?"
"We heard a godawful crunching noise, and I ran to catch her," Paya said quietly.
"Take her to the Great Fairy," Impa said. "After all, she was the one who healed you and told us to put you in stasis,"
"Healed me? What happened to me?" I asked.
"I think it's best you ask her for yourself," Impa said, sagely.
The two guards walked with me in their arms through the Village, up past a blue shrine, and into the forest. We came to a stop at a wonderful fountain, glittering of gold, pristine water, and the odd fairy flying around. Multiple flowers grew all around the fountain, I thought I recognised a few.
"Miss Paya, please call the Great Fairy," one of the guards, Cado asked.
Paya nodded, and knelt in front of the waters edge. The fountain shook, and a beautiful giant woman emerged, bedazzled in opalescent jewels and white blonde hair. She looked at Paya discerningly, with a sparkle in her eye.
"Hello my dear, what can I, the Great Fairy Cotera do for you?" She asked.
Paya bowed respectfully, "Great Fairy, we need you to help this woman," she took a step back so Cotera could see me in the guards' arms.
"My my! If it isn't the fabled Frost! How are you my lovely? Not doing so great? Nevermind! Come over here to me," she held out her arms and hands to accept me. She gently grabbed me from the Guards and cradled me in her grasp.
"Take a deep breath, Frost," she murmured. Then she disappeared beneath the surface of the fountain, with me in her grasp. I felt the water rushing into my ears, it flooded my senses, although my breath was held it was very weak and soon the waters began flooding into my nose and mouth. But, I found I wasn't dying.
I spied Cotera in front of me, "You're too important to die yet, the Princess needs her saviour, her true saviour," She said, it echoed in my mind.
"Now, go and get them, Tiger," she grabbed me again and breached the surface of the fountain, sending the water everywhere, making everything glitter. She placed me on my feet, I stood where Paya knelt earlier.
"You're all healed now," she gushed. "Please come back though, for a visit I mean! I don't want to have to keep patching you up!" She booped my nose gently.
"I will," I bowed. "Thank you,"
