Trainee

October 1st

Yumi and her supervisor ken, was in the store and preparing for their opening, they are alloted 1 hour of opening time, but since they arrived early, they had a time to have their first coffee of the day and had a little chitchat.

"Today is the 1st day of the newly hired barista right? I wonder if how long this one would last." Ken chuckled.

"Yeah, seems like everytime those trainees realizes how difficult our job is, they quit even before they finish the training. What a waste." Yumi frowned.  "But i wish this one stays, we badly need help since busy months are ahead."

"You're right. Yosh, lets start opening" Ken stood up and sipped the last drop of his coffee.

In the middle of doing the opening procedures, their store manager Jin came in with a huge smile on his face.

"Good morning guys! Another busy day today, by the way, the new barista will come at 8 AM. Please welcome him."

"Eh a guy? You finally hired one huh? Haha!" Yumi let out a small laugh.

Because for some unknown reasons, Jin only like hiring female baristas, out of the 13 members of his team, he only have 3 guys.

"Yeah, I thought we needed one, it will be a great help because Christmas season is coming, deliveries are twice the normal amount. Oh and yumi? I am assigning you to be his trainer." Jin smirked and went to the office.

Yumi is one of the senior baristas and top performer in their store and she is also a certified trainer and coffee master, but she didnt expect that Jin would assign her to handle the new trainee since its a guy, yumi have never trained a guy, and she thinks it will be difficult.

"Ugh, Jin always gives me challenges. He enjoys it when im pressured." Yumi rolled her eyes while checking if she's done opening her area." Ken, are you done? I am just gonna go inside and get my apron."

"Almost, please let Jin know that we'll open in 15 minutes." Ken replied.

"Okay."

Ken was cleaning up his area when he heard someone knocking on the door, he looked and saw a tall guy standing outside, Ken thought that he must be the trainee. He opened the door and let him in.

"Hi, are you the new trainee? come in, I am Ken, I am one of the supervisors here. Whats your name?"

"Nice to meet you Ken, yes I am the new hire, my name is Inoo Kei, you can call me Kei."

Ken instructed him to sit down first while he calls Jin to meet him.

"Please wait for a while." Ken smiled and left him.

Inside the backroom, Yumi was done fixing herself, she wore her apron, placed her pen and marker on her pocket and she's ready. She went out and saw someone sitting in one of the high chairs, he looked tall, he was pale and has brown hair, he looked decent but he also looked very sleepy.

"He must be my new trainee." Yumi whispered to herself.

5 minutes before their opening time, Jin and Ken went out of the office, Jin called Kei and introduced Ken and Yumi.

"Hello Kei, I supposed you have met one of my supervisors? Ken here will be around most of the time and if i am not available, you can talk to him if you have any concerns. Make sure to ask for his contact details later."

Kei smiled and nodded, "Thats great, thank you."

"And here we have Yumi, one of my senior baristas, she will be your trainer, so if you have any questions regarding the operation and training process, you can ask her anytime. I will give you time later to have a talk with her for proper introduction."

"Hi, I am Yumi, nice to meet you." She  smiled gently

"I am very pleased to meet you Yumi, Thank you for welcoming me" Kei finally looked awake as they saw him smiled brightly

Jin patted Yumi's back "Alright I will be at the office, I have so much to do. See you all later."

They all smiled at Jin. Yumi asked Kei to sit down first and wait.

Ken opened the doors and the operation started.
