When The Elevator doors opened me and Jessica went out into the cold hallway.

"So where is Abby's room," Jessica asked

"It's right here actually" I replied

We stood in front of a door that marked Room # 154 and the name on the door said it was Abby's room.

"Could you open the door for me?" I asked

"Why? Can't you" Jessica asked

"Well....due to my arms still healing, I can't push nor lift anything too much to bear and my arms are so brittle I can't even lift something that's heavier than a 70 paged notebook, so the door is too heavy to push for my arms to take" I said, looking away

"Oh, alright," Jessica said, opening the door

I walked into the room I've known so well. I pulled the curtain blocking the room from the entrance to the side, and I was met with a sight I still wasn't used to yet. Abby was laying on your typical hospital bed, her eyes staring off into something distant like she was looking at a tiny microscopic organism. I felt tears come to my eyes before I brushed them off quickly.

"Oh no," Jessica said, quietly

I walked over to Abby's side without saying a word and took her hand into mine and rubbing it.

"Rick? What's she in, is she awake" Jessica asked

"No she is in something called a vegetative coma," I said

"Oh," Jessica said

I looked down at Abby and then back up at Jessica.

"The doctors say she might not wake up until next year, or at all at that fact," I said, sadness grabbing my voice

"She'll wake up, she is tough," Jessica said

"Yeah, I hope," I said

I heard the door open, and when I turned around I saw a doctor walk in.

"Are you Rick?" The doctor said

"Yeah," I said

"I was told to give you this," The doctor said, handing me a pill.

"Thanks," I said, taking the pill.

I popped it into my mouth and went to the sink to get a glass of water, I washed down the pill with water and swallowed.

"How are your arms doing Rick," The doctor asked

"They still feel pretty numb" I replied

"Want me to change the bandages," The doctor asked

"No that's fine I should be gone for another day or two," I said

"Alright, well I'll be leaving. Have a good night" The doctor said

"You too," I said

I went back over to Abby and pushed some of her hair out of her face.

"We will be leaving now Abby, I'll see you tomorrow," I said

Abby smiled as if she heard me, but it was just one of the symptoms the doctor mentioned.

"Hey Rick, we still need to get what we're wearing to the party," Jessica said

"Oh yeah, let's swing over to some shops to have a look," I said

We left Abby's room and made our way to my car.
