It was around 10:30 when Jessica and I were done shopping, I dropped off Jessica at her place before making my way back home. I managed to find an apartment for sale at the same one I lived in two and a half years ago before he took control of me. I pulled into the parking lot and parked my car, I looked out my windshield and glanced over to my mailbox.
"Ugh, probably bills," I said
Due to school starting I never had time to find a part-time job, and even if I did I'd probably wouldn't have enough time for it anyway cause of all of the homework my teachers give me.
"I swear they never give students any breathing room," I said
I took the keys out of the ignition and got out of my car, locking the door behind me. My mailbox had papers sticking out of it, so I slid them out to see what they were and to my luck, all of it was junk mail. I let out a long sigh of relief as I make my way into the apartment complex. When I got inside the familiar golden glow of the lights filled the lobby, I greeted the guard as I went up about two floors before walking down a long hallway I turned a corner and ran into something.
"Ow," I said
I shook my head and looked at what I ran into. It was a girl about my age, she was wearing a gray jacket and was wearing the hood on it, her hair was a bright cyan blue and her eyes were an odd shade of red, which kinda threw me off course a little.
"Oh shit I'm so sorry, should've been paying attention to where I was going," I said, holding out my hand
"No it's alright, I was the one spacing out," The girl said
At first, it looked like she had an emptiness in her eyes, but now they were full of life and color.
"Anyway, I need to go. I've got important things to do" The girl said
"Oh, alright," I said
She started skipping away as if she just met her idol, I turned back around and eventually made it to my room, I slid the keys into the lock and turned it to the right, unlocking my door. I went inside my room, locking the door back up again, and went to sit down on my couch.
"I wonder if anything is on," I said, grabbing the remote
I flipped through all of the channels available to me, but nothing caught my interest. I turned off the T. V and leaned back into the couch. That's when I felt my phone vibrate, I reached into my pocket and pulled it out. It was Merceedes.
"Hello?" I asked
"Hey, Rick how's a going. Jessica told me about what happened at the hospital, is everything alright." Merceedes asked
"Yeah, I'm fine," I said
"Alright," Merceedes said
"So what's the plan for tomorrow," I asked
"Well, I thought we might come by and pick you up around 8:00 at night and then drive over to the place," Merceedes said
"Well alright, sounds good to me," I said
"Well, I'm going to bed. See you tomorrow" Merceedes said
"Night," I said
She hung up the call when I set my phone on the table. I stretched as I left my couch and I made my way to my bedroom.
"So tired," I said
I took off my shirt and threw it into my laundry pile.
"I should take that out tomorrow," I said
I laid down and threw the covers over me and turned onto my side. I closed my eyes as I slowly drifted to sleep.
