Raven's POV I woke up to my stupid loud alarm indicating today's a new day.
"Bloody hell" I mumble pushing my face deeper into the face pillow groaning in annoyance.
If I didn't own a business, I would have risked any career I had for extra 5 minutes of sleep.
I got up and walked into the bathroom, turned on the shower didn't bother taking off anything because I sleep naked.
I grabbed the loofah and squeeze an abundant portion of my coconut and vanilla shower gel.
I washed my hair with a coconut scented shampoo, if you haven't noticed I love everything, that is made with coconut or has coconut in it, except for pies I am not a fan.
After showering, I headed to my closet and picked out my outfit, I will be visiting "Soul Bird" one of my main restaurants, I got hundreds of them worldwide.
When I finished dressing up I did my hair and put my Afro into a slicked-back ponytail and my dress was a tight-fitting navy blue turtleneck dress, I did a natural makeup look then stared at myself in the mirror.
"Yessss honey you looking like a snack" I said hyping myself while staring at my reflection in the full-length mirror.
My phone started ringing "Hello..." I spoke into the phone.
"Hi Bitch!!!" I rolled my eyes so far back they started to sting.
This is my best friend and also sister Amara.
She's not my real sister but after my parents died in a terrible car crash her family raised me since our Dads were good friends, they never made me feel like an outsider and treated me like their own daughter.
"What is it, Princess Amara?" Please do note the sarcasm in my tone.
"I'm just calling you to tell you that Dad wants us to come over to the house for dinner because he has something important to say to everyone mostly you" I glared at the wall when she said "house" more like a 3 story mansion.
"Okay, so what time do I have to be there?" I asked scratching my head with my acrylic nail.
"Latest, 6:30 to 7:00 pm," She said happily.
"Raven, I miss you" I groaned closing my eyes pinching my nose bridge.
"Amara, you just saw me yesterday" I told her while checking my living room to see if anything is out of place. I'm a bit of a neat freak.
"I know but I need to see my Mama bird everyday" Amara said with a sigh.
"What's with you and the Mama bird nickname" I asked amusedly.
"Sis, it's your name and Ravens are protective yet dangerous just like your personality. That's why you my Mama bird" Amara spoke enthusiastically.
"Okay... Thanks?" I said unsure of what to say to that.
"Raven, guess what?" Amara giddily asked me.
"What is it?" I asked because I have no idea.
"Toni, is coming to the dinner also because Dad has to say something that involves both of you" Amara said making me grunt inwardly.
I had a huge crush on Amara's older brother Toni, he was quite protective of me in our younger days.
He used to chase away any form of male contact that had interest in me and his sister due to his immense possessiveness. Maybe, that's why I confused him as my "boyfriend"
But reality slapped me hard, when I confessed to him before he went to college.
I was 16 and he was 18 then. He rejected me by saying 'I'm sorry Bambina, but I only see you as a little sister' I cried a whole lot but moved on because I ain't no punk bitch that will cry over someone who doesn't want me. I know my worth.
Whenever he visited home, he always brought his girlfriend Rachel.
Who by the way was cheating on him. I caught her in the act in public but didn't say anything because it's none of my business. So yes, I'm not very fond of Toni right now.
I don't hate him because having a grudge on someone is too much of a burden. "HELLO RAVEN RAVEN ARE YOU STILL THERE?" I jumped out of my little memory lane due to the loud calling of my name through the phone speaker.
"Oh sorry Amara, I zoned out for a sec" I spoke with an apologetic tone.
"Second? more like minutes, anyway, I'll see you later Mama bird" Amara spoke again making kissy sounds.
"Thanks for informing me I have to go I'll see you later" I spoke hurriedly after I saw the time.
"I wonder what Dad has to say" I voiced out as I walked out of my house and settled into my car.
I don't know what it is but I have a feeling it's gonna be something big, I just have to wait and see.
