Mario and Luigi: The Stars Above Us

Castle Collapse

Mario instinctively jumped on Luigi's head as their defense move, both of them spinning around with their arms out, flying a little bit in the air. Starlo flew under Mario's hat, and Surge ran around the room taking care of the minions trying to come aid Bowser.

"This battle was over before it started...Say goodbye, Mario!"

Bowser went up to his throne and removed an armrest. Beneath it was a button. Bowser pressed the button and jumped out of the way! Surge ran to shove the two brothers out of the way, but had only enough time to save Luigi. The throne rushed forward and collected Mario, then breaking through the wall and dumping him and itself in space. Bowser was about to give the command to fire, when a tractor beam started pulling him up!

"Oh, thank goodness for Luba!" Surge praised, but it wasn't Luba. The ship lowered, revealing itself to be something Surge recognized.

"The great evil is awake...and has Mario and Starlo..."

"Great evil? I'm the only evil around here!" Bowser lunged at Surge, but Luigi stepped in front of him and took his hammer, knocking Bowser into the wall.

"Luigi...that was actually non-cowardly!" Surge exclaimed, and Luigi felt a rush of bravery.

But Bowser wasn't done...

"Green stache...you think you're a hero... YOU!!! ARE!!! NOTHING SHORT!!! OF A FOOL!!!" Bowser roared as the room began to shake.

"Bowser, listen. It's in a prophecy that you will help us."

"Think of it this way," Luigi started without a single shake in his voice. "They plan to conquer YOUR universe...and then destroy it. Together, we can save it...so you can conquer it."

Bowser paused for a moment, the room still shaking.

Dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun...

Luigi checked his pockets and found the source of the familiar music: his Dual Scream. He opened it to see Professor E. Gadd's face.

"Professor?" he asked his almost forgotten friend.

"No time- Luba's come to get me, Peach was taken, and Toadsworth voluntarily went with her. Have you convinced Bowser yet?"

"I wasn't sure, but I definitely am now that Peach was kidnapped, and I didn't do it!" Bowser stuck his face in front of the screen.

"Perfect, we're coming in Starship Mario to get you." Luigi nodded and closed the modified DS.

The room immediately advanced it's shaking, and the ceiling collapsed! Luigi was sure he was dead, but opened his eyes to see Bowser holding some of it, saving Surge and his life!

"Just run, I'll round up a few trusted helpers and meet you at the gate!"

Luigi grabbed Surge's hand and jumped through the hole in the wall. Starship Mario pulled up right on time to catch them in the small pool behind its hair-garden.

"Bowser's getting help, pull around the gate!" Luigi yelled to Elvin Gadd, who was at the wheel while Luba tended to some emergencies in the engine room, accessed by a doorway in the 'M' on the hat.

"Come on, just jump!" Bowser yelled. Colonel Koops had flown across the gap in the floor with Sergeant Guy, but Admiral Goomp still on the other side.

"I'll catch you!" Bowser held out his arms, actually showing compassion for his minions.

Goomp gave in, and jumped, but not far enough. He nearly fell, but Kamek rushed by on her broom to catch him, zooming past the other three, "Let's go!"

Surge stared in horror as the castle completely fell into space chunks.

"It wasn't designed for space, but Bowser thought he could pull anything off," Gadd explained.

"Hold on to something!" Luba yelled as the ship zoomed in to save Bowser's personal guard, (Goomp, Koops, and Guy,) along with Kamek.

"Where's Bowser?" Kamek suddenly realized.

"Wait up!" Bowser yelled, for Luba didn't hear Kamek, and started to leave. The gate and ground beneath it completely dislodged from the rest of the castle, leaving Bowser stranded.

"Hyup!" Bowser jumped for it, beginning to fall into space.

"Gotcha!" Kamek yelled, flying over to grab her leader, (and hopefully future husband in her eyes.)

"Thanks..." Bowser seemed ashamed to admit he needed help from scrawny minions, but at the same time, it felt good.

"So what's the next stop?" Luigi asked.

"We find the traveler of happiness, and then go save Mario and Starlo," Surge reported.

"OOF!" everyone nearly fell over as something hit the ship.
