Anastasia's POV
I woke up at four thirty this morning. It was dark outside and stars were still in the sky. The bag that my grandmother talked about was in the back of the closet like she said. I zipped open the duffel bag to see may items. Food, medicine, blades. One of the more interesting things I caught sight of was the two small guns with several rounds surrounding them. I've never seen this side of my grandmother.
I quickly grabbed the duffel bag and headed to Lukas' room. I knocked lightly, hoping he would answer. So much adrenaline was running through me at the moment. It felt like a ride at the amusement park. Lukas opened the door and came out, ready to go. "I got help from my grandmother." I say motioning to the bag. Lukas nodded and motioned for me to follow him.
We tried to keep silent as we hurried down the hall. Lukas then stopped at a window. "This is our way out." he explains. I look outside the window to see that we were stories above from the ground. "Hell no." I say, ready to head back to the room. Lukas rolled his eyes and grabbed onto my wrist before I could go anywhere. "Come here." He pulls me in front of him. "Look outside." He orders. I look outside and see the beautiful nature that I would soon become a part of if I listened to Lukas. Lukas opened the window and pointed in the distance.
"There," He says. I squint my eyes, trying to figure out what he was looking at. "Where?" As soon as the words left my mouth, I felt myself being pushed out the window. My eyes were wide as I drifted through the air at full speed. I frantically waved my arms and legs in the air, hoping I would sprout some wings and fly. But unfortunately, I really was going to plummet to my death. "Lukas!" I yelled, not believing that he pushed me. I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for my body to hit the ground.
I felt my body hit something but I was sure it wasn't the ground. I opened my eyes to find myself on the back of a dragon. My eyes widened. I had never seen a creature so big before. Its wings were spread so far out that the length was nearly twenty feet! I looked to my side to see Lukas also on the back of a dragon. "You really need to trust me more!" He shouted over the sound of the wind flying by. I could only laugh as I looked at the world from above. "You're crazy!" Was all I could think to say to him.
I had no doubt that this stunt had to do with Ymbi.
The wind caused for some strands of my hair to fall out of my ponytail and be free in the wind. After I got into the proper riding position, I ran my hands over the dragon's scales. Lukas was truly crazy for this idea. And the fact that he actually pulled it off frightens me. For the rest of the ride, I just hold my things tight and enjoy the fresh air.
The dragons soon neared the ground for a smooth landing. By now the sun had began to peek over the horizon. "Now wasn't that fun?" Lukas asks me, climbing off of the dragon. I laugh and shake my head. "You're crazy." I take the hand that Lukas offered and allowed him to help me off the dragon. As soon as my feet hit the ground, the dragons began to shift. Once they were in human form, they made sure to cloth themselves.
"Hello, I'm Dazziny."
"Kadys." I smiled as I shook their hands. The dragon that Lukas had pushed me onto was Dazziny.
"We're sorry but we can't transport you beyond this point. Dragons and vampires don't really get along well." Dazziny explains. Dazziny looked around my age. What stood out about him though was his fiery red hair and crimson colored eyes.
"It's fine. I'm sure me and Lukas can manage from here." Dazziny nodded before shifting back and taking off. Kadys turned to us and sent a little smile. "Good luck." He shifted and followed the other. "Are you ready?" Lukas' question made me look up to see that we were at the beginning of a thick forest. Half of the plants within it looked dead.
