Anne Wheeler. An outcast. A loner. A street orphan. A disregarded, disgraced child born out of wedlock. A broken girl waiting for a second chance.
New York society will never accept her. She figured that out a long time ago. However, when she sees an advertisement in the paper, Anne sees this as an opportunity to prove herself capable of being loved, being acceptable, being worthy.
And that's when she meets him, the friendless smart-aleck who wears thick-rimmed glasses and pushes her buttons to the limit.
Can he change the swelling tide that is tugging at her inner-most soul?
