Chapter Ten: Date

-- Maddie's POV --

I was finally adjusting to everything that wasn't real. Chase asked me out on a date this morning.

hey Maddie I was wondering if u wanted to go kayaking tonight by the lake for our first date? 😘

I was excited. Kayaking would be so fun with him. I grabbed a bathing suit and a pair of sorts along with a t-shirt. I got changed in the bathroom and when I got out my mom was walking in.

"Hi sweetie. Going swimming?" She asked.

"I'm actually going to the lake with Chase." I smiled. She didn't know we were dating yet.

"Okay have fun! Be back by 7:00 for dinner!" She smiled and kissed my forehead.

I walked to Chase's room and saw a crumpled piece of paper outside of this room. I read it.

'Watch your back, Maddie. You have until 5:15pm to find me. Tick tock, your life is about to end.'

Is this some sort of joke? I don't know, but I put the note in my pocket and knocked on the door. "Hi Mrs. Riggs." I said polietly. She lead me in and I said hi to Chase and Chandler.

Chase held my hand as we walked to the lake. Breeze Lake to be exact. I started thinking about the note. I wanted to cry I was so scared. My dream was scaring me a little. He looked down at me and noticed something was wrong.

"You alright?" He asked.

"Not really... I found this note and I-" He cut me off.

"That was a prank!" He started to laugh.

"Chase! I hate you!" I laughed and punched him gently in the arm.

When we got on the kayak and started to go farther and farther. It was the best date I've ever been on, well, the only one.

We got really far out and he asked me to jump in with him. I said no but he pushed me in. "Chase! You jerk!" I joked. We were both laughing. "Help lifeguard I'm drowing!" I started to fake drown.

"I'll save you!" He said with a chuckle and jumped in. He grabed me and pulled me to the kayak. He laid me across it and pretended to check my heartbeat. He did mouth to mouth, more like lips to lips. We kissed and it was so romantic. The sun was setting so we sat on our kayak and watched the sun set.

I looked at him and said "I love you." He looked back and replied with "I love you more." Typical Chase.
