Chapter Nine: Explanation

-- Chase's POV --

I was cutting into my skin deeper and deeper, waiting for Maddie. She finally found me and told me to drop my knife. I didn't want to, but I did. I felt like we were still dating and I should do what she tells me to.

 I saw flashing blue and red lights. The police officer took me down to the station. I was arrested for shoplifting the pocket knife.

-- Chandler's POV --

My mom got a call during the night. The police had Chase down at the station. What did he do this time? Last time he got arrested it was because he tried to kill his crush in fourth grade. He took her to the boy's bathroom and wrapped her neck with toilet paper, trying to choke her. Then he stuck her head in the toilet. He did this because she didn't say yes when he asked her out.

I'm surprised he didn't hurt Maddie with that knife.

-- Maddie's POV --

I felt really bad when I saw the police car pulling away. He just felt broken, but he was overreacting just a little. More like a lot.

-- Four Days Later --

I had a long day of shooting so my mom wanted to take me shopping. I bought a few shirts and then went back to the hotel. My mom and dad wanted to take my little sister to the water park. I was too tired and my brother was going to the village with his girlfriend, the sister of one of my friends from the cast, Mandy.

I took a short nap while they were all gone. I woke up when I started to feel a cold breeze. The window was open somehow. I was also in my bra and underwear, and only that. I got scared. What happened? I walked to my bag and got new clothes. I called Chandler.

"Hi, Chandler? It's Maddie."

"Hey Mads, what's up? I have to go to an audition in ten minutes. So, can you make this quick?"

"Yeah, sure. When is your brother going to be back?"

"Oh, he got back earlier today."

"He... he's back? That means h-he was in my r-"

My phone died. I needed to get out of the room. I walked over to the window to close it. I saw Chase. He grabbed me and pulled me onto the small patio. He held the same pocket knife in his hand, against my neck. 

"Chase, please leave me alone!" My knee had a cut on it when he dragged me over.

"No! I love you Maddie!" He said.

"Chase stop it! You're too violent!" I yelled, kicking him away. I got up and climbed through the window. He pulled me back and held me to the ground. He punched me. One... two... three punches. I was knocked out.

-- One Hour Later --

I woke up on the bed in my hotel room. It was all a dream.

"Maddie? Are you awake yet?" Chase asked.

"GET AWAY FROM ME!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.

"Babe, it's okay..." He said, trying to calm me down.

"DO NOT CALL ME BABE YOU MANIAC!" I yelled and stood up. "GET OUT!" I added.

"You passed out a few hours ago and I don't even get a hug? Just called maniac?" He chuckled. "You got overheated." He added.

"Wait, what?" I asked.

"You passed out. P-A-S-S-E-D O-U-T." He laughed.

"So, we're still dating?" I asked.

"Um, yes... gosh you don't remember anything do you?" He smiled.

"No, I had a dream. It was weird." I said and explained it to him.
