Chapter Six: The Problem

-- Chandler's POV --

I got back from the arcade. I decided to text Maddie. I wanted to go to her room and ask her out with the rose I recently bought.

Me: Hey Mads 😛

Maddie: Oh, hey Chands? I'm doing this wrong lol 😂

Me: Haha that's fine... I was wondering if I could stop by your room, I have something for you ☺️🎁

Maddie: Oh, sure! 😊 You're welcome to come over at any time. Is tomorrow at noon good?

Me: Sounds great... see you then!

-- The Next Day --

I heard a knock on the door. I looked through the peephole and saw Chandler. What did he want? I opened the door and greated him. "Hey Chandler!" I said. It was weird because I was dating his brother. He pulled out a rose from his pocket. Oh, no...

"Chandler... I-I- kn-" He interrupted me. "Just hear me out. I really like you and I know you wont say yes, but... here goes nothing. Will you be my girlfr-" I cut him off. "I'm sorry, no." I closed the door, leaving him out in the hallway.

-- Chandler's POV --

I held the rose out and she said no. Why? I don't get it. Every girl would go out with me no matter what. Why did she turn me down? I walked down the hallway to get to the elevator. I saw my brother step out when I got to it. He glanced up at me. "Where are you going?" I asked him. He continued to walk and looked down. "Chase!" I grabbed his arn and pulled him back. "I said, where are you going? And I expect an answer." I raised my voice.

"Chill... what are you? My mom?" He got loose of my grip and picked up his pace. I followed him. He turned around and stopped. "What is your deal? I'm just going to the laundry room to get towels for the pool. Mom asked me." He was right. We needed towels and mom asked him to get some. Plus it was the only one in the building besides the one on the 8th floor.

"Oh, I'm s-sorry... I- I have to go." I ran back to the elevator. I'm not dating Maddie, so why am I getting all defensive over her when it wont work out? I don't know...

-- Chase's POV --

My brother was going crazy like I just ran over his dog, like he was trying to arrest me. When he finally went on the elevator, I stopped by Maddie's room. I already got the towels earlier that day. I knocked on the door and Maddie opened it. "Chase? Or Chandler. If you're Chandler please go." She said. I was really confused. "Oh, you're Chase. I can tell by your birthmark... and your shirt is blue, not green." She half smiled. "Come in." She closed the door after me.
