"Come on girls you got this. 5,6,7,8." Coach Ramirez yelled at us. After two hours of dance practice I would usually be annoyed by the voice of my dance coach but knowing competition is only a month away I was willing to ignore it. Plus, on the bright side, we got a view of the football players through the window which wasn't the worse thing on the planet.

3 hours later I was in the locker room putting on clothes while talking to my closest friend Jess. We have been best friends since before we could talk and our parents were really close too.
"So, what are you wearing to Evans party tonight," Jess asked while putting her curly blond hair into a bun.
"Um I actually don't know if I want to go yet," I said mumbling knowing what her reaction was going to be.
"WHAT, WHY THE HELL NOT!" I flinched hearing her loud voice bursting through my ears. Jess stared at me with a look of confusion. "You have NEVER passed up a chance to party before."
"I'm just not feeling it tonight. I have to do some cleaning before school starts". I muttered to her hoping she would buy it.
After saying goodbye to the rest of the team, we walked out towards the parking lot to our cars continuing our conversation. The cold air felt refreshing after being in the hot dance room for hours.
"Bullshit, its summer Gigi, that's not the reason why is it," She said staring at me intently.
"Ok maybe not. I just really don't want to see Liam tonight" I looked down at my feet as I said his name, remembering how we broke it off at the end of summer. Knowing Liam, he would never miss up the chance to party and I couldn't stand seeing his face tonight. "But I still have a lot of chores left," I said hoping it would be a good enough excuse for her to stop pestering me.
"Are you serious" She stopped walking and stood in front of me causing me to look up at her puzzled face. "You guys have been broken up since this summer. It's his fault for cheating on you with that living piece of trash."
"I know I should be over him already but we dated for two years. It's not going to be that easy, at least not for me." I immediately frowned remembering all our memories and how he ruined it all by cheating on me with some slut.
Liam was my first serious relationship. Before him, I had my casual relationships that lasted a couple of weeks, along with some casual hookups. Liam was what some would call one of the hot guys on the football team. We were "the couple of the school" until he cheated on me with bitchy Beatrice. Thank the lord she graduated last year. I haven't had any relationships since him.
"Fuck that. Who cares how long you dated. This is the last party before the start of junior year. It's your time to dress up sexy and show him what he is missing out on. Maybe you can even find you a boy toy for the night" She wiggled her eyebrows gesturing at the football players still on the field.
I looked over at them and noticed some of them looking at our way but chose to ignore it as we continued walking to our car.
"I don't know if I'm ready for another relationship so soon," I said as we arrived at my 2008 Nissan 350z and her Mini both parked side by side. Sidenote: I'm a little obsessed with cars.
Getting into her car she looks me in the eyes "I don't care, we are going to that party. I'll be at your house in an hour to get dressed. Cheer up Gigi, It's not the end of the world." Noticing that she wouldn't let me get out of this party I gave up and agreed.
With that, she hugged me goodbye and pulled out of the parking lot leaving me standing next to my car.
Putting my curly dirty blonde hair into a ponytail, I hopped in my car and made my way home blasting music on my speakers the whole drive there.
