- Mr. Lockery -
I was sitting at the kitchen table, having breakfast when a knock was heard at the door. I went to go answer it and an elderly woman was standing in front of me. She was wearing long, green robes with a witch's hat on her head.
"Good morning, Mr. Lockery" she greeted with a straight face. "I hope you know why I'm here?"
"If I were to guess, you're here to see my daughter. Am I correct?" I answer.
"Exactly." She nodded.
"Well, come in," I stepped to the side. "Naomi is outside, finishing her morning chores. Can I get you anything?" I offered. "Tea, perhaps?"
"That would be pleasant, thank you." The woman sat down.
I began to warm the water and prepare the tea. I handed her a cup with a biscuit and she gladly accepted. I asked her to wait a moment while I fetch for my daughter. Stepping out to the backyard, I see Naomi milking the goat, enjoying the outdoors and her caramel frappe.
"Naomi! Would please come inside for a moment?! Someone's here to see you!" I called.
"Coming, Dad!" She hollered back. "I'm almost done with Willow! I'll be there in a bit!"
I head back inside and began discussing about Hogwarts with Professor McGonagall. That's right, I knew her name. Naomi walks in and puts away the milk and came to the living room. She stopped when she saw Minerva but took a seat in her own small chair.
"What's going on?" She asked in confusion.
I handed her an envelope with a red seal. She opened the envelope and read aloud.
"Dear Ms. Lockery,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry..." Naomi looked between us. "This is a joke, right?"
"I'm afraid not, Ms. Lockery," Minerva corrected. "You are a witch. Just like me."
"Dad?"
"She's telling the truth, dear. You hold magical abilities." I confirmed. "Remember that time in a field trip, you were so angry at that Emily girl, you sent that bird after her? That was you."
Naomi was in shock but, her face grew annoyed, "why didn't you tell me?"
"Because, I had to be sure it was you. When more incidents started happening, it proved my theory. And that was the time you turned eleven. The exact time you would get your letter." I smile. "And don't worry, you're not the only one. My brother, your Uncle Marc, was a wizard, and so is your once removed cousin, Hugo!"
"So, Ms. Lockery, will you be attending?" McGonagall asked.
With a determined looked, my daughter replied,
.
.
.
"Yes, ma'am!"
