"You can't be serious." I guffaw, trying not to panic.
"I'm so sorry, I'll try to get there soon, but I'm not sure if I can make it on time." he sighs.
"Mason, this is my graduation we're talking about here, not some random party to where you can blow me off." I roll my eyes even though I know he can't see me. Harry glances at me with a worried expression upon his face, lifting his eyebrows for more information. I wave him off, silently telling him that it's nothing, and he nods hesitantly, resuming trying to knot his tie. I place the phone to where it is balancing between my ear and my shoulder and walk towards him, straightening the tie and tying it properly, earning a dimpled smile in the process.
"I'm so sorry, Arielle. You know how important this job is to me." Mason says, and I try my best not to tug at my hair, for it has been styled to perfection by Delilah.
"I know, I know. It's just that you promised to be here today, yeah?" I sigh exhaustedly.
"I know, I'm so sorry." he repeats.
"It's okay; I'll see you when you get here, yeah?" I reply, trying to sound as cheerful as possible.
"Alright, see you soon." he replies before the line goes dead. I sigh and toss the phone on my bed, plopping down on it soon after.
"Everything okay, babe?" Harry asks, sitting down next to me.
"Yeah, Mason landed a job interview so he might not be able to come on time tonight." I tell him, sending him a grateful smile which he easily returns.
"Told you." he mutters, but he instantly shuts up when I give him a warning glare. "You should probably get ready, love." he says, looking down at his watch.
"Yeah, I'll go get my dress from Delilah." I say, and Harry nods, smiling at me as I exit his and Kyle's dorm. I trot down the hall, knocking on the door lightly and hearing a faint "Come in.". I push the door open and my jaw immediately drops when I see Delilah's dress. It's a gorgeous emerald green and reaches just above her knees, a thin tan belt around the middle.
"You look amazing." I manage, shutting the door behind me and taking in her appearance.
"Thank you." she smiles, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear.
"Where did you put my dress?" I ask, and she juts her chin towards the closet door, where the dress cover is hanging on the hook. I grab it and smile at her thankfully before I leave the room, closing the door gently behind me. I walk down the hall and into Harry and Kyle's dorm one last time, locking the door after I place the dress on the bed. I quickly slip it on just before Harry comes out of the bathroom, now wearing his gown over his suit. "Haz, can you zip this up for me, please?" I ask softly, fumbling with the zipper at the back of the dress.
He nods, walking over to me and zipping the dress up before he spins me around to face him. He fixes my hair over my shoulders and cups my cheeks in his large hands, smiling adoringly at me. "You look absolutely beautiful, love. I almost wish you didn't have to wear that gown over this." he smiles cheekily, stroking my cheek with the pad of his thumb.
