Chapter 15
As the Fate Sisters walk away, let his mind drift off while closing his eyes. Should I tell Alice and Raven I met the Fate Sisters? We just talked, so I don't think it's necessary. I guess if they ask, then I'll tell them.
Then his thoughts went to Lacie's letter. Imagining her leaning next to him, he starts to doze off. However, a nightmare forms, dreaming what happened two years ago. The day has haunted him ever since, but it started like any other day with her. Nothing gave him the sense that something lurid would happen.
Lacie was walking down the sidewalk with Loki, going to the park to walk around leisurely before they both went to work. As they were traveling through, strange people, who he had never seen before, appeared before them. One of them called out to Lacie, "You've meddled too far into the plans." He said. "Back away or we'll have to take action. Please Lacie, I don't want to hurt you. Stop this. Stop trying to hither the Queen of Hearts' plans."
He didn't understand what was going on, but Lacie did. "I refuse." She told them. "I will not let her hurt Edwin or have her force me to hurt him. I will do anything in my power to protect him. Please, side with me and we can overthrow the Queen of Hearts."
The more he watched, the more Lacie seemed like a different person. "I can't do that. I have people that I want to protect too, and I won't risk the Queen of Hearts harming them. I beg you now, Lacie stop your foolishness. You can't beat her." He seemed beaten, the man in front of Lacie. Loki knew that he didn't want to hurt her, yet his it seemed like his hands were tied.
What's going on? He thought. Lacie, who are these people? What are they talking about? Are they going to hurt you?
"Then I choose to rebel in my foolishness." She finally said after a long pause.
No! His mind yelled. Lacie, I get the feeling that you should just obey what they say for now, rebel later. Let's run. Please Lacie, we should leave. I'm getting a bad vibe about them.
"So, then this is it. You've announced your treachery." He said, his heart breaking.
"Edwin get behind me," she commanded him. "Edwin!"
Startled at her shout, he slithered behind her, peeking out at the two men in front.
"S-Sorry? I-I don't want to do this?" The other man said weirdly. "Please forgive u-us?"
When he finished his unusual questions, he flashed his sword from underneath his long red coat. Bringing it out, Loki noticed a heart crest on the hilt of the sharp sword. The next thing he knew, Lacie and the man were fighting.
They moved so fast. He could hardly keep track of their movement. But Lacie had no weapon, just a large stick she quickly picked up off the ground. It did little to help her. So, Loki tried looking for a better weapon.
This is a park! He realized. Weapons don't just lie on the ground. Where am I going to get one then?
He glanced at a metal bar on not much farther from him, but it was behind the other man. It would defend against the sword, but he didn't know much on how to fight, only the basics.
Well, he thought recklessly. Lacie's in more danger than I am and I have to be of help for her. I can do this if I put my mind to it. It's like making toast, right? Nothing to it. I am so going to be told off later on by her though!
"Lacie!" He called out to her. "Can you give me a boost?"
"I don't know what good that'll do," she replied while dodging the sword many times. "But if it'll help, I'll try my best to give you an opportunity. You'll only get one chance though, so make it count!"
