Chapter 29

Sorry about a really late chapter update, but I've been getting six hours of homework each day, not including weekends (which I only had a break from homework for the most part this weekend). It really cuts in free time (To nothing. AP classes=death march in writing time sometimes). But again, sorry and hope this update makes up for it at least a little bit.

Upon leaving the realm, Loki's mind falls to darkness. His body exists emptily. Raven steps back, feeling a strange pressure hum against Loki as it slowly takes form. A light bluish gray mist comes out him and surrounds him in a cocoon while blowing across the entire floor of the room. Raven jumps at the freezing touch, but quickly after, it wraps itself around his ankles, crawling coolly up his legs.

At the same time, the mist flows gently over Alice, breezing around her as she too is engulfed like Loki. Taking the chance, one of the Valkyries run up to Loki, aiming for the kill as he pulls a knife from its sheath at his hips. Yet, a few steps away from the thick cocoon, the mist attacks and knocks him to the ground. The Valkyrie wrenches himself through the mist, scuttling free, but it laces through his fingers and pins him to the ground. Fear writes over his face and a cold sweat pours down him as his vain attempts erase him from sight.

Unlike for Loki and Alice, the mist attacks further. Raven and the other two Valkyries listen to the unfortunate Valkyrie scream terribly in pain. But the screams stop suddenly, leaving the beating of their fearful hearts in its place.

Slowly, but surely, the mist creeps up higher to the free Valkyries, buzzing in a smooth eerie. The two Valkyries fear leave them paralyzed and with the given chance the mist grabs a hold of them. Their wits come about them when the cold fog touches their skin. They yank and tow at its thin threads to get free, but it only causes the mist to wrap around them harder, climbing faster.

Soon, left trembling and unable to move, they let out an abysmal scream that echoes tightly around the room, especially at Raven. And little time passes before they drop to the ground and the room falls silent again. The eerie buzz continues as the mist now begins to crawl up Raven, the last person alive and mostly free of the mist. Its huge mass swarms up him slower than a clock could tick.

The door slams shut by the mist, buzzing louder and louder in the almost empty room. Excess mist on the ground begins to surge around Raven, gigantic clouds crashing against him. His fingers start to twitch, watching the mist rise higher than his knees. Then his wounds open more as the mist slides its way to his stomach and his mind races wildly at either fate surely to await him shortly. The barriers of his pride crumble one wall at a time with every beat his heavy heart thrashes against his ribcage. Upon it covering his chest, any wall of pride he used to have turns to dust. A soft whimper squeaks from his quivering mouth, "Edwin, help me. Please help..."

The mist covers his mouth and washes over his terrified eyes until he too, like the others, is submerged completely. To hold Raven in his huge ball, it dissipates from the lifeless bodies of the gruesomely killed Valkyries. He lets out no scream as the last image he sees is of the Valkyries, not even a heavy breath when pain begins to hit him. No sound comes from inside the ball of fog.

I tap Pleasance's shoulder, leaning gently to her ear. "I'll be right back. There's something I need to take care of."

"What?" She asks, shakily raising a hand to me as I get off the bed.

"Loki needs my help, he's doing the same thing as two years ago. But I'll be back soon, don't you worry."
