Chapter 26
As the morning light blinds Loki to the corner of his cell, two Valkyries yank him out, digging into his arms as they hold him tightly. He makes no struggle under the pain but a winces, and clenches his teeth shut while a blindfold covers his eyes. From the distance, he hears his name being called, mistaking it for Alice's voice, but it's knows it's his mind playing tricks on him. However, once his blindfold is taken off, and after the blur of the blinding light to his dark eyes, he watches Alice being dragged.
"A-Alice," he tries to say, his voice cracking from the lack of talking in the past few days. He reaches out for her, but the Valkyries hold him back as they throw him into the nearby room, where his gaze meets a chair.
Long cables stretch from all around the chair, leading to one point in the ground. Cables of red, blue, and yellow attach themselves along the arms, legs, and back of the chair. As Loki eyes down the chair, he notices a strange pulse coming from it.
Before he can say anything in protest, the Valkyries push him into the chair, strapping his arms, wrists, and ankles. As he tries to break free, yelling and grunting, unable to break free, his mind resigns to his fate. I'm going to die here, I know it. I'm sorry Lacie. Alice. Raven. I'm a goner.
Yet, through his reluctant thoughts, he continues his struggle, noticing a small window behind him and a rather large one beside him, neither of which he could see through. Most of the wall contained of that window alone. The window behind him vibrated every now and then, but even though he couldn't see inside, he had a guess of who's inside.
Alice, he doubtfully thinks. I hope that you, at least, will be able to escape.
Shortly after, Forseti strides proudly into the room. "Well," he cheerily begins. "It's nice to see you again, Loki. I hope you are doing well, we're just about ready to begin. I'm so excited for this experiment, aren't you? Have you figured out who I am? Or did you give up?"
"Just what are you planning to do to me and Alice?" Loki scowls, his voice cold and cruel, as a Valkyrie also enters the room.
"Tut, tut." He says as he waves a finger, mocking the desperation in Loki's actions. "I am not planning on doing anything whatsoever to Alice, I'm not interested in her. I am only doing something with you." He walks closer, dangerously close, and stokes the cold surface of the mostly metal chair. "Here, I'll give you a hint at my plans. Do you know what this chair is?"
"No." Loki barks.
"Really now," he groans. "You could at least guess." He pauses and waits for Loki to say something, but when he doesn't, he groans again. "You're no fun. But whatever, you probably wouldn't figure it out anyway, it's still a new invention. Sure, I had to make a few tweaks to amplify the power and jazzed it up to more of my liking, but it looks mostly the same." He sighs when Loki's expression still doesn't change.
"You're so much trouble, you know that Loki? First," he holds up a finger. "I had to find you. Second," He holds up another. "I had to get you to play around with Asgard and Wonderland. Third, I had to get the blueprints to this thing, and it's not like you can find it in a library or anything, no. I had to go steal it from government files, making sure I wouldn't be caught. And lastly, I had to make sure you fell into Asgard's hands. It's such a tedious amount of work."
He circles around the chair when he finishes his long speech, grinning at Loki's slowly changing expression. "I wonder if you will survive this thing. If I'm right about you, you should, but you should be warned: if you don't, then you'll be killed in a sudden and most certainly painful manner. Can you guess what this is now?"
