Chapter 14
As Loki wakes up by a blinding of light, he notices the black envelope that Meg handed him. Curiosity over powers him and he dashes to get dressed, nearly tripping himself as he grabs the envelope. A nervous sweat chills down him while he flip opens the letter. It's all crammed together to fit on one page. However, he remembers the handwriting, though his mind refuses to believe it.
Edwin, the letter reads, It must have been a while since you've heard from me. If you are reading this, then something must have happened to me.
I have some important things to tell you, but I first want you to know that if I am alive, but not able to see you, I miss you. Being alone is not easy, believe me, but I know you can be strong and you will surpass that loneliness to find happiness without me. His hands start to tremble.
I should move on, I can't write too much or someone might catch me and this letter won't be able to get into your hands. First, I work for a dangerous group called Wonderland, ask Erik and Meg about it, since they come from Asgard. Any questions you have will most likely be able to be answered by them. If not, then I'm sorry, I don't know who else can that I trust.
Second, Wonderland is planning to take the pocket watch that I gave you. With that pocket watch Wonderland plans to connect them to a pathway that will lead to Ragnarok, a power of supreme destruction. With that power Wonderland plans on overthrowing the Gods, but I know that such an attempt would be futile. I warn you, they will use any means to win, no matter how much they have to dirty their hands. The Queen of Hearts is evil and controls us so that we can't disobey her. Don't blame anyone but her, but you must know that even if we are controlled, we can still hurt you more than you can think of.
You know I'm not like them, right Edwin? I don't want you to get hurt by this, so I'm trying to prevent you from getting involved. Though, this is probably the reason I cannot be with you now. And if I indeed died from this, know that it was not your fault.
Third, if by an off chance that you do get involved, then seek Erik and Meg's help, but by that time their group will probably be involved with the same plot as Wonderland. I know that their cause will be better though, they rarely ever want to do something that will harm others. From the information I've gathered, it will most likely have something to do with a new goddess' life. You cannot let that person's life force die, she must live. What happens to her will decide whether the world will continue on or fall into a chaos so devastating it could wipe out this entire world.
But stay strong Edwin, you can, I know. Though your greatest secret is hidden, trust that this is for a reason. I advise you to stay away from anything with powerful electrical shocks. Good luck, be strong, and live well Edwin. I love you. From, you-know-who."
His hands tremble uncontrollably while his eyes ache for tears to fall. The shock of the letter sparks hope in the center of his grief. "Lacie, I," his voice quivers. "I'm not strong, not at all. And I miss you."
While a small silence befalls him, he watches out the window, unable to cry a single tear. "It should be raining," he finally says.
Hiding the letter under his bed, he gradually regains his old strength. He grabs his pocket watch and shoves it in his pocket, stroking the metal in remembrance of Lacie. Running to Alice's room, he raises his hand to knock, but no one comes out from the other side. Then he remembers and lets his head fall to the door.
Raven walks to catch a glimpse at Loki's action. He laughs, "I would use my hands to knock instead of my head."
"I did use my hands, Raven." He says embarrassingly. "But I just remembered that Alice is on guard duty."
