Five enemy clan members had Eagle pinned to the ground. Three had all but his left front talon in their grasp, another held down his tail, while one kept his head practically glued to the ground. A female Icewing with white and scattered light blue scales, was holding Eagle's once free talon in hers. She was talking to him, with a smug smile on her face that would put Bladerunner's friend Deathbringer to shame.

Bladerunner decided that it was probably best to hide somewhere rather than flying in the open. So she ducked down behind one of the few sunflower beds and Plum had planted earlier in the spring.

"So that is King Windchanger's idea. Do we have a deal old friend?" asked the female Icewing.

Eagle motioned for her to move her ear closer so he could tell her something. What he said, Bladerunner didn't know.

Before the Icewing could pull away, Eagle jerked his head and bit her ear almost clean off. She roared in pain and proceeded to goudge Eagle's eye out. This was all Bladerunner could take. She sprang at the Icewing and landed on her back, tearing at her neck and chest cold blue blood gushing from the wounds. Before Bladerunner could do any serious damage, more Icewings were on her, pinning her to the ground just as they had Eagle.

Bladerunner looked around and saw that all of her clan mates were surrounded by enemy soldiers, out of earshot and probably out of Eagle's line of now limited sight.

She looked up, seeing a dark shape descending from the sky. The dragon landed and looked at Eagle as if hoping is glare alone could kill him. Then he looked at Bladerunner with... was it lust? Hunger? Greed? She didn't know, what she did know is that the look sent chills down her spine.

"Hello Bladerunner." said Windchanger. "It's nice to see you again. I just wish that it would have happened with you in my cave rather on the battlefield. But regardless, I get to smell your blood."

"I hear that your a king now." replied Bladerunner, ignoring everything he said after "hello". "Why was I not invited to your crowning ceremony? Oh that's right! I was to busy trying to get my tail off the streets."

"And you succeeded."

"No thanks to you, considering you're the one who hired the dragon that burned my house down. My mother and grandmother died in that fire! They-"

"'Were the only family you had' yes yes I'm very aware of this." Windchanger stated, cutting her off. "Why don't we talk about something else? A prophecy perhaps?"

"You said that with a smug smile on your snout meaning that you know my curiosity will get the better of me." Bladerunner said in a monotone voice.

"So very smart, and pretty, and se-"

"Cut to the chase blubber eater. And while your at it back off of my wife!" Roared Eagle, who was still pinned to the ground.

"You have no say in this conversation half-blind bat!" Responded Windchanger. He turned to look at Bladerunner again, with the same creepy, bone-chilling, confusing look as before.

"Have you heard of the prophecy? And not the 'five dragonets born to end a really bad war and save hundreds of lives' one either. I mean the one about yours and my clans." He said. Bladerunner thought that he was starting to lose his temper. Problem was, so was she. If she could stay calmer for longer than him, then maybe both her and Eagle could get out of this without anymore serious injuries.

"No can't say I have. But since you know so much about it why don't you tell me?" She knew this would make him mad. He hated having to explain anything.

"The prophecy states that both of our clans are supposed to unite under my rule with you as my queen."

"You're a liar." She said.

He sat down without a word, never taking his eyes off her. He wrapped his spiked tail around his back legs.

From her current vantage point, Bladerunner could see more details about him. He had changed quite a lot since the last time she saw him. Embedded in between his scales, were small rubies and sapphires going from the edge of his wings to the tip of his tail. The very edge of all of his claws, even the ones on his wings, had gold on them. His eyes were such a dark blue they were almost black.

"You admiring the view Blade?" Windchanger asked. The way he was sitting, he looked so arrogant yet so handsome at the same time. But Bladerunner couldn't ever forget or forgive what he did.

"No. Just trying to figure out the best way to skin you yet keep all of the jewels in your hide." She replied. For a brief moment, the look in his eyes changed. Fear maybe? "Wouldn't want the value of a perfectly good rug to decrease now would we?"

He sat there just staring at her. He then turned to look at Eagle, still laying on the ground helpless and slowly losing consciousness due to blood loss. He turned back around and looked at Bladerunner with what almost looked like pitty.

"I'm going back to the base. Meet me there when the job is done love." Said Windchanger as he rose to his feet.

The female Icewing, while covered in bleeding wounds and obviously in pain, bowed before him. "Yes your royal majesty." she said "What do you wish me to do to them?"

Windchanger looked at Bladerunner over his shoulder. "A leg each, one of her eyes and one wing. Then we will see how well they fight."

He flew off, leaving his soldiers to do whatever it was they were supposed to do. Bladerunner had a funny feeling that whatever it was, it involved her and her husband.

The Icewings started moving. It was like watching a herd of zebras, she couldn't distinguish one white scaled dragon from another. The soldiers holding Eagle down bound his snout shut and proceeded to rip off his leg. Red blood went everywhere to the point where some of the nearby Icewings looked like Skywings. His attempt at screaming was heartbreaking, especially to his wife.

Now more soldiers were on her. Clawing, biting, practically skinning her alive. She felt jabbing pain near her eye, as if someone was looking for something and couldn't see it. What they were looking for was her eye, and it was found then Bladerunner lost half of her sight forever. She didn't have time to panic about her eye because she started to feel pain in her wing and shoulder. She started thrashing, trying to throw off her attackers. They stumbled, not anticipating her to struggle. When enough of them were off of her, she jumped up and spun around to face them.

"Come on Blade. Don't you want to appease your future King?" one of them responded. He was a young male, slightly older than Bladerunner. He appeared to have extremely light blue scales, but Bladerunner thought that could be blood.

"My future king is also my current king and my husband always will be my king." Bladerunner responded with malice in her voice.

"Would you bow down your son?" asked a different Icewing. She had slightly darker blue scales than the first one. She was also covered in Bladerunner's blood.

"I might. If I felt that they would be a good king."

They looked at her with interest. Bladerunner guessed that they were wondering if she had dragonets. She did. A little Icewing Seawing hybrid named David.

"Bladerunner lookout!"

Bladerunner spun around again but it was too late. She felt something hit her in the head and she was on the ground. The last things she realized before she lost consciousness was that her back left leg was in extreme pain, and a small voice calling her.

"Mommy?!"
