Nicholas flew to the palace door, where he was stopped by more guards. There were four of them, all Nightwings. Two were male and two were female one on each side.

Why would they pick couples? Shouldn't they be worried about them getting distracted by each other? Or maybe their hope is that they will be on alert so their partner doesn't get hurt. thought Nicholas, overanalyzing again.

"Stop!" yelled one of the male Nightwings. He was on Nicholas's right. "State your business here." Nicholas lay down the food figuring that it was going to be a while before they let him in the palace.

"I'm Prince Blackwidow in case you didn't recognize me. I request an audience with Queen Glory." said Nicholas. He hated starting with his title of "Prince". He felt like he was saying that he was better than everybody else when he never felt like he was. But that was the rules. All of the guards stood to attention, more so than they had before.

"Prince Blackwidow? But-"

"'he doesn't have a scar on his eye' I know." said Nicholas, cutting off the guard. "I was in a fight last week and got this scar. Now may I please see Queen Glory? I would like to be home by nightfall." Nicholas wasn't upset at the guard. He was just doing his job after all. Nicholas was upset about the fact know one seemed to believe who he was.

"It's alright let him through." said an elegant voice. Nicholas looked away from the guard and to the door itself. Standing in the doorway was Queen Glory.

Her scales were a turquoise color with ripples of royal blue and purple through them. Some gold and silver scales were also mixed in, making it look like she was covered in small jewels. She had a flower crown on her head made out of orange orchids. In the center of the crown was a small sunflower where instead of seeds inside of it there were many actual gold and silver jewels except for the center one which was blue. Sapphire was it? To put it simply, she looked very, very pretty.

"Yes your majesty." stated the same guard as before. The guards moved away from the door to let Nicholas pass through. Nicholas picked up the food and followed Glory inside.

"I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused by my guards. My annoying husband insisted that they question everyone." said Glory.

"It's alright Queen Glory I don't mind." he responded. They walked into the throne room where Deathbringer was strutting around with one of Glory's crowns on his head. Nicholas tried not to laugh, but the sight reminded him to much of Starseer. He lowered his head and quietly laughed.

"Deathbringer what are you doing?" asked Glory. Deathbringer looked at his wife with a smug smile.

"Seeing what it's like to be you of course! It's not everyday I get the opportunity to try on a crown." he said. Glory had tried to make him a crown in the past, but he refused it saying that, "One, it clashes with my scales. Two, I can't blend into the darkness to protect you from possible assassins if I have a bright orange flower on my head. Finally, all crowns look much better on you, no matter what they are made of." After that Glory never tried to make him another one.

Glory walked into the room, took the crown off of Deathbringer's head and set it back on it's shelf.

"We have a guest Deathbringer. Someone important." said Glory as she sat down on her throne. Deathbringer went and sat down beside the throne. It was only about one dragon talon high, putting them at eye level.

They are such a cute couple. Nicholas thought smiling.

Having composed himself to the point of not laughing, Nicholas walked in and bowed down to Glory and Deathbringer. Glory nodded signifying that he could stand. He brought the food to them putting the mangoes in front of Glory and the leopard in front of Deathbringer.

Deathbringer poked the leopard multiple times like he was looking for something. Then he did the same with the mangoes.

He's checking for poison. Thought Nicholas. Can't say I blame him.

A few years ago, Glory was poisoned by one of the not-so-loyal Nightwings, one of the ones that left with Darkstalker. She almost died. Deathbringer had blamed himself for it because he hadn't been with her at the time.

Glory hit Deathbringer on the back of his head so he would stop poking the food

"Thank you Prince Blackwidow. But what is this for?" asked Glory.

"Five years ago today you became Queen of the Rainwings. Two days from now it will be five years since you became Queen of the Nightwings. I thought I would bring you both a gift, although it isn't very much." said Nicholas. Both Glory and Deathbringer looked at him. Glory smiled.

"Thank you Blackwidow." she said "Cattail!". A dark green Rainwing with eyes of the same color walked in.

"Yes Queen Glory?" she asked.

"Bring Prince Blackwidow here some food. The best we have." she responded.

"That's not necessary your majesty." said Nicholas. He was pretty hungry though. Glory looked at him.

"You will eat." she said.

Cattail walked out the door and a few minutes later came back with a wooden tray full of food. It had steak, papaya, fish, and a few other things on it. Cattail walked back out the door leaving the three royals to their meal.
