Nicholas's parents were walking up to Snowdrift who was sitting down by the river. His mother, Bladerunner, with a knife attached to each of her front talons. His father, Eagle, with a sword at his side. He said he got the idea for the weapon from watching his pet scavenger as a dragonet.

During the fight Snowdrift had never moved. She just sat there. When Nicholas was in the trees watching the dragons below him, he saw her slightly move her tail right before the now dead Icewing attacked, almost as if that has his cue. When Nicholas's parents were about half a dragons length away from her, Snowdrift spoke.

"You killed him." she said calmly. To calmly for Nicholas's liking. "You killed my brother."

"And he tried to kill our dragonets. Maybe even succeeded. I don't know yet." was Bladerunner's response. From the corner of his eye, Nicholas thought that it looked like Blueberry was going to tell her if they were still alive, but then decided against it.

"Probably for the best if he doesn't tell them yet. She could run over there and easily overpower him and Raspberry. Then just a quick flick of her wrists could snap all four of their necks. That might take to long so she would probably only kill two of them. Sadly I think that she would go for Judith and Jr. considering they seem to be her main targets. That's the smart thing to do." thought Nicholas. His mother taught him to overthink things when it came to battle. Sometimes he was good at it when he had a moment to think. Others, not so much. Rarely could he act quickly.

"I need to work on that." he thought, "After this issue is dealt with and Judith and Jr. are in the healers room, I'll go ask David if he wants to help me with it." This train of thought wouldn't last long.

"Since you didn't personally lay a talon on them we will let you live, if you tell us your name, your brother's name, and explain how our son knew you." Said Eagle.

When Snowdrift turned her head to look at them she jumped to her talons. She looked scared. Nicholas didn't blame her for being nervous, his parents looked menacing.

Bladerunner had a metal leg replacing the one she lost years ago. It had a knife made into it and could detach if she needed it to. She also had a replacement metal wing that could also detach. Eagle also had a prosthetic leg. Both of them also wore eyepatches and were covered in scars. Nicholas wouldn't be surprised if even the late Sandwing Princess Burn was at least nervous around them.

"The leaders." said Snowdrift with her eyes wide open in fear. That was all she said before she flew away, or tried to. Nicholas's mother threw a knife at each of her wings, tearing the membrane and making her fall back to the ground, crying in pain. It wasn't a serious injury, but at least it would be harder for her to get away.

Snowdrift got back up to her talons and ran at Eagle and Bladerunner with a murderous glare on her face. Bladerunner and Eagle braced for impact and were ready to fight her, but at the last second Snowdrift jumped over them and ran at Nicholas.

Nicholas didn't realise he was in danger until he felt serrated talons rake across his face. He cried in pain and fell to the ground with his talons covering his eyes. He heard a fight followed by bones snapping and looked to see that his mother had killed Snowdrift, blue blood covering her talons and teeth. He looked at Snowdrift's body. It had bite and claw marks everywhere plus a few knives sticking out of it, and that's just what it looked like from the back. The neck was twisted in a weird way, like someone tried to fold it in half to where Snowdrift's shoulder was resting on her head.

Then Nicholas became confused. Was it raining? Why was the rain red? Why was it running down from the sky like water on a wall instead of in little relaxing droplets?

"That's not rain, it's blood. My blood, running into my eye." he thought. He closed and covered his eyes once more, still in pain. He knew that the injury would scar, making it impossible to forget Snowdrift.
