Blood was everywhere. The ground, the trees, even Bladerunner's talons. Bladerunner looked down at them. The blood was purple but it seemed to be more red than blue. The scent was familiar as well, but she couldn't place it.

"Maybe it's a hybrid's blood." she thought, "Or more than one dragons'". She stood up and looked around. She was in the clearing near the river where the kids were attacked. She looked at the river. It looked strange. It seemed to flow differently and had an odd color to it. She cautiously walked towards it to investigate. As she got closer she realized she was right. The river was flowing differently. It was slower than normal. There wasn't any water running through it either. Instead there was blood. Red blood on her side, blue on Windchanger's side. In the middle it swirled together to create a dark purple. Hesitantly, Bladerunner put one claw in it. It was warm.

"Mommy?" said a voice off in the distance behind Bladerunner. She whipped around, her remaining eye wide open and looked around. "Mommy?" there it was again, slightly louder. Only, it sounded like two voices, coming from the woods heading back home.

"Maybe it's David and Nicholas." she thought. But something felt off. She started walking towards the voices. She walked into the woods. She stopped every now and then to try and hear better. Not only to pinpoint where the voices were coming from, but to also find out if it actually was her two oldest dragonets.

"Mommy!" yelled the voices. Bladerunner started to panick. She started running. "Mommy!" she ran faster. "Mom-" the voices were cut off. It sounded like they were choked. She kept running. Her heart racing, louder and faster as she continued to run. Bladerunner suddenly stopped. She had found two hammocks. Both had a dragonet in it. She walked closer. It was Judith and Jr. in the hammocks. Both were unconscious and had bandages on just like they did when she had last checked on them. They both had bandages around their throats along with others on their sides. Something was wrong though.

"It's been days since the attack. They shouldn't be bleeding" she thought. But both of them were bleeding through the bandages, as if something or someone had slit their throats again.

Bladerunner tried to move her talons to stop the bleeding, but she couldn't. She tried again, they still didn't move. She started to panick. She looked down, thinking she might have stepped in quicksand. She didn't.

Bladerunner looked back at Judith and Jr. They were still losing blood rapidly. She tried yelling for the clan's healer Blueberry, but her voice never left her throat. In a desperate attempt to break free of what ever was holding her down, she beat her wings as hard as she could. She flew backwards and hit her head on a tree that strangely felt like stone. Her head felt fuzzy and was spinning. She closed her eyes and slowly shook her head to try and fix it. When she opened her eyes again, the hammocks were gone.

"Where did they go!?" she thought. She stood up and looked around frantically. She didn't see them, but she thought she heard something coming from deeper in the woods. It was a familiar rattling sound. But not at all comforting.

"Icewing spikes."

She started running in the direction of the sound, knives at the ready. She saw something in the distance. It looked like the hammocks, but it couldn't be. They were floating off the ground, moving away from her. She ran faster, almost catching up, but the hammocks started moving faster.

"No." she yelled, "No!"

She stared to feel tired, but she kept running. She ran faster and faster and eventually started flying to catch up with her dragonets.

But she couldn't.

"You can't save them." said a ghostly voice, "at least, not all of them."

Bladerunner's prosthetic wing suddenly broke and she went tumbling down a slope into nothingness.
