Today, it's my turn to do all the chores. Usually it's my dad's job. I'm usually out and about, usually at the waterfall. Usually on Saturdays, like today. Right now I'm washing laundry.
Now I'm washing dishes.
Now I'm cleaning all the rooms.
Now I'm vacuuming the dining room.
Now I'm gathering the toys in my newly adopted brother's room.
Now... it's not pretty.
"Hyun-Ae there is someone on the phone for you!" My mom is yelling. It may be Tae. I take the phone.
"Good morning sunshiiiine!" A familiar eerie voice says.
"Oh no." I whisper and think at the same time. "Why are you calling me? Where did you get my mom's number?!"
Seo-Yeon giggled. "Somewhere sometime awhile back. Hehehe. I still have my eye on you and Tae-Jung. He's my jagiya. Not yours."
"You're nothing. You may shine like a diamond but you're just fools gold."
"Ah, so the quiet kitty learned a few roasts."
"Yeah, more than you have. Listen, I don't see what any of the other boys see in you. To me, I see a pessimist that downtalks people all the time. Taetae said it. HE DOES NOT LOVE YOU!!! So return to your unordinary ordinary life, AND JUST FORGET IT!"
I hung up. Then, I got anothe phone call.
"Seo-Yeon, please, STOP-"
"Uhhhhhh, Hyun-Ae it's Tae-Jung..."
"Aaah!!! I'm so sorry! Seo-Yeon just called me!!!"
"She did? Nevermind that. I'll ask later. I was wondering if you could come somewhere with me today."
"Really?? I mean, sure. I mean, I think I can come. To that place. With you. Ahhh... I'll go ask."
I muted my end of the phone and told my mother I was going to go somewhere. She really doesn't care at all. I grabbed my red Converses and put them on, rushing.
"Yeah. I can come."
"Awesome! See you in a bit at the waterfall. Then I'll take you to- then I'll take you to the place. See you, Hyuny."
"Fine. See you, Taetae."
I opened the door and ran out, not closing it. I heard my father yell, but I ignored him. I ran down the dark paved street. Wow. I worked for a long time. It was already dark out. Since I live in the city, I have to take alleys to the country ish side to get to the waterfall. I already memorized my was the first time. Right, straight, left, sudden left, straight four times. right, then straight ahead. But unlike most times, the last alley wasn't empty - the one that lead staright to the forest area in the back of the waterfall.
There were four men, about in their thirties or twenties. One looked up from his cigarette and at me. He slapped his hand on his buddie's chest and they looked up at me.
Oh my God they looked at me.
I turned around to run, but the oldest looking one was already behind me. He grabbed my shirt and dragged me towards the others. He chuckled.
He threw me on the ground at the feet of the others and smiled down at me.
"Hey there little girl. What are you doing here?"
To be continued...
