When the String Snaps

The delicate string that held his world
Snapped in half and his brows furrowed.

The world as he knew it was turned upside down
And his view of earth had rapidly drowned.

His voracious greed tore up his heart
And blinded those who saw the start:

The start of revenge and long-lost pity;
Those who saw him had no sympathy.

They'd avert their eyes and walk away
While he trudged on every sickly day.
