Chapter 28

Riley's POV
It's out. The secret I worked so hard to cover up is out there. Now I'm not ashamed of my daughter at all. There's just things that happened that she needed to be protected from. I was broken out of my thoughts when I felt Shawn remove his arms from my waist. I looked at him and saw a look of pure hurt and betrayal. "Shawn..."

"Y-you have a daughter?" I nodded. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I couldn't." I whispered.

"You couldn't or you wouldn't?" Shawn asked angrily. I could see the hurt in his eyes.

"I-I..."

"You know what Riley, save it. I'm done."

"What Shawn-" I began, but he cut me off.

"No Riley. I loved you, but you didn't tell me one of the most important things about you! The fact that you had a child was something you needed to tell me! Have you just been lying to me this whole time?! I have been completely honest with you this whole time. I wanted to spend my life with you! I bought you a promise ring for God sakes!" That last part caught me off guard.

"Y-you what?"

"Yeah Riley. I bought you a ring. I was going to give it to you in Paris next month, but I guess that's not happening anymore." He took a small box out of his backpack. "Here, take it. Sell it on eBay or something. Have a nice life Riley." He said tossing my the box. I caught it and looked at him. There were tears in his eyes. He gave me one last look before shaking his head and walking out. I felt tears building in my eyes. I had just lost one of the people I cared about the most.

"Riley." Grace said breaking me from my thoughts. I noticed everyone had looks of shock on their faces. "Are you okay?" I shook my head trying to blink back tears.

"Hey girls, why don't we all go and get some shave ice?" Kono asked the little ones. It was then I noticed the rest of the team was in there. I guess at some point during the fight they had left their offices to see what going on. The girls nodded and the team took them from the room giving us some privacy. As soon as they were gone I completely broke down. I felt myself be pulled into someone's lap. I looked up and recognized that I was being held by Riker.

"Shhhh. Its okay Ri. Everything is going to be okay." He said. I continued crying into his chest. I felt the rest of my family crowd around me, all providing any form of comfort possible. After a few minutes I calmed down and Grace helped me back up.

"Riley you need to tell him the full story." Grace told me.

"I'm not sure that he'll listen." I said doubtfully.

"He will. He loves you." Before I could say anything Grace stopped me. "Don't even try and argue. Go talk to him. As far as I know he's still outside."

"But what about them? They need to know too." I said motioning to my family.

"I can tell them. Is that okay?" I nodded. "Good. Now go, get your boyfriend back."

"Thanks." I said giving her a quick hug, then I turned around and ran to the door. Once I got outside, I found Shawn sitting on a bench scrolling through something on his phone. As I got closer, I noticed he was looking for flights to get off the island. It was then I decided to make my presence known.

"You know, I wouldn't book your flight just yet. You haven't even gone to the beach yet." I said trying to lighten the mood. He looks up at me and sighs.

"What do you want Riley?" He asked. It was obvious he was still upset.

"I want to talk to you. Tell you the full story. If you still want to leave after I tell you, that's okay. I'll pay for your ticket myself, just please listen to me. Let me try and make things right."
