"Riley we found Nick and Ella's killer..."

"Isn't that suppose to be a good thing?"

"Riley..."

"What? What is it? Is it someone I know?"

"Riley, it's Liam..."

Riley's POV
Liam. All it took was that one name and I saw red. Liam had killed them. He took away the only parents these kids ever knew. How was that fair to them? And to what? Get back at me? It's horrible. They don't deserve this.

"Steve are you sure? Like absolutely positive?"

"We found his DNA at the scene."

"Where?"

"Riles, I really don't think you-"

"Where?" There was more force behind my words this time. Steve sighed.

"Maya's room."

"He was in her room?!" I burst out. "Why? How?"

"The theory at the moment is he went looking for Maya. There were signs of forced entry from the back door. He went into her room trying to find her, but when she wasn't there he lost it. We think he fell into a rage and destroyed her room then went after the Nick and Ella."

"But how would he even know about Maya? I took precautions Steve. I gave her up to make sure this very thing never happened!"

"I know Riley. We don't know how or even if he knows. Like I said it's just a theory. It could just be coincidence."

"Do you honestly believe that? Do you think it's just a coincidence he goes after the family I gave up his daughter to?"

"Riley..."

"NO! Tell me the truth Steve!" I snapped. He sighed.

"No. I don't think it's a coincidence but we don't have enough evidence to do anything other than bring him in as a suspect. You know his lawyers, we need a solid case with concrete evidence."

"Fine. I'll go. I'll go bring him in." I said getting up and moving towards the door. Steve beat me to it.

"Not happening."

"What do you mean?"

"There is no way you are bringing him in. You are too close to this."

"What do you expect me just to sit around and do nothing?"

"No. I expect you to go back to the house and protect those girls. You can't pursue this Riley. You and I both know what happens when you and Liam are together. Who's to say he won't try to hurt you? Or worse? You have people that need you Riley. Our ohana, your family, the girls, your daughter. You are all Maya has left."

I sighed. He has a point.

"You're right. I won't pursue Liam. I can't do that to everyone."

"Thank you. Now go home. I'm sending HPD out there to make sure everyone is safe. I'll be there later tonight."

"Alright. I'll see you later." I said before walking out of his office. Once I made it outside Grace grabbed my arm.

"Is everything okay? What did Steve need to talk to you about?" She asked me. I clenched my jaw.

"Not here." I said lowly.

"That bad?" She asked. I nodded grimly. She seemed to accept that answer. "Okay well everyone is loaded up and ready to go. We're going to yours right?"
