You sighed, dragging your sprained left ankle behind you. You had somehow wandered in to a closet, fell down after two other kids, and had got yourself lost in a castle. Apparently, Rudiins here are a whole lot stronger than they were before. Or maybe this massive drug trip of an adventure was starting to get to you. You really couldn't tell.
But on the way here, you did buddy up with a few monsters. However, they weren't very good in battles, leaving you as the main fighter. Behind you were two creatures, a small Jigsawry who you nicknamed Jig, and a Rudiin who introduced himself as Sunstone. Cliche, but then again, he was a Rudiin. As good as he was with bullet hell attacks, you've noticed he's terrible socially.
"Jig, c'mon," you murmured to her, bandaging a finger she cut while fighting one of the cherry-colored Rudiins. "We have to get going if we want to escape this place."
"B-but y/n.." she cried, using her free hand to wipe her eyes, "What if we can never leave?!" she sobs, burying her face in to your shoulder. If this was a stranger, you would have pushed them off, but you had a soft spot for the little pink jigsaw piece.
"Jig, we've been going for over a week now. We can keep going." You murmured, rubbing your thumb across her eyes in an effort to wipe them. "Now come on," you said, picking her up and grabbing Sunstone's gloved hand. "We need to pass these whip-things from the forest." you joked, earning a chuckle from your pals.
You were jogging at a pace so that Sunstone could keep up. While most Rudiins are a bit slow, Sunstone was a little faster, making your pace a comfortable one. He only lagged behind a little, and didn't seem to mind as you dashed in to a small room. The soft-looking carpet on the floor looked like a good place to sit on, but as you approached, two long, thin spikes shot up from behind you.
Suddenly, a loud, masculine voice echoed in your ears. "So, the worms have decided to crawl out and play?" It boomed, and you weren't sure if the voice or the anxiety of being yelled at caused your arm to shake briefly. "Who the hell?!" Sunstone yelled, looking brave. Secretly, he was either trying to comfort you, or just as startled, as his grip on your hand tightened.
The voice let out a hearty laugh, sounding almost like a wizard. "THOUST FOOLS!" it called.
A bright beam of light shone in front of you, making you wince. Bright lights didn't normally hurt your eyes, but this was right in your face.
"I AM ROUXLS KAARD; THOUST GREATEST ADVERSARY!" a tall, blue man dressed in what looked like something out of the 1760s called, pointing at you with a gloved hand. He looked like a stage-dork.
"Thou may have clawedest past all thouse otherest conundrums," He said, but you were starting to tune him out. Well, the best you could tune out someone yelling like they were drowning underwater.
"Now," Rouxls said, snapping his fingers to get your attention. "Prepare thouself for the STRONGEST PUZZLE OF THOUST LIFE!"
You turned around and there lay...the dumbest thing you had ever seen. Without any hesitation, you pushed the box on to the button with your foot. The man let out a sound that could only be described as a piglet on helium. "GOD. DANG IT," (A/N: I'm not allowed to write swear words other than hell :/) he squealed, running off in another direction.
"What a weird guy," you muttered to Jig, who had currently shoved herself into the pockets of the jacket you were wearing. "Come on, Sunstone. I think I heard something in the other room open. Sunstone nodded, and the three of you dashed past the whips from the forest yet again, reaching a previously un-opened passage.
As you climbed the stairs, you noticed something right off the bat: There were blue Hathys everywhere. As you were out of their line of sight, you wondered how to get past them. "Hey, Sun'. Can you wrap around my neck?" you asked. Yeah, that sounded awkward the moment it left your mouth. But Sunstone didn't seem to mind. "Sure," he said, wrapping around you neck, but not enough to cut circulation.
Grabbing Jig through your jacket pocket, you had a mad dash away from the Hathies. They were on your butt, but you were able to avoid them, miraculously. As you barreled through the door and up the stairs, only to find more things from the forest. As you danced along with the things, hanging on to both Jig and Sunstone tightly, you found that the path to the next staircase was blocked. Sighing, you sat down in front of the spikes.
"Guys, let's take a break," you said, unwrapping Sunstone from your neck. The Rudiin agreed, relaxing beside you. Jig came out of your pocket.
"Jig? What'cha doin' little buddy?" you asked, rubbing her ears.
"It was getting a little stuffy in there," she said.
"But you stayed in there for almost 30 minutes," you said, noticing her getting a little flustered from the scratches. Guess Jigsawrys like being pet.
"W-Well I fell asleep!" she mewed, rolling onto her back while laying on your chest.
You chuckled. Jig was a good friend.
