Apparently, it was a big concern for the tall, blue man.

"Thine's patriarchal guardian didst WHAT?"

The booming bellow echoed into your room through the wall.

"The hell was that for?" You grumbled to Jig, offering her a ride in the scruff of a loose hoodie you had put on. She quickly hopped in- gotta hand it to those strong hind legs- and you walked silently to the kitchen.

Eavesdropping was a trick you had learned early on, since you tended to get fed up with people not telling you the whole truth. To do it right, you need to appear normal while you tune in.

You crouched next to a jar of worms on the floor, diverting your attention to the room where the loud call was heard.

A sob, from a childish tone. Must be that Lancer kid.

"Lancey..." Rouxls said, appearing to talk without the odd vocabulary he normally used.

"Must be a fake accent," you chuckled to Jig, who pawed your mouth to keep you quiet.

"Now...repeat to me, what did he say?"

"H-he..."

Another sob.

"He told me that if I got in his way again, he'd drop me off the side of the ca-castle ledge.."

....Even though you had yet to have a solid conversation with this child, a surge of protective instinct washed over you. Odd, isn't it, how humans attach themselves to ones they have never even met?

At least that's how you saw it.
