(Chapter picture is Amelia.)
*HARPER*
After hanging out with Marona for mostly the rest of Friday, I went home.
I walked into the kitchen but froze midstep when I saw Oliver.
"Oh, hey." He stuffed another chip into his mouth. I rolled my eyes and turned to walk away but Oliver spoke again. "Hey, wait, don't leave." I released a breath out my nose and turned back to him.
"What do you want?" Oliver lightly grabbed my wrist and brought me to his room.
"Why have you been avoiding me?" He sat on his bed, but I stayed standing by the door.
"Are you serious?" He just kept looking at me and I scoffed. "You get a girlfriend and are crazy about her even though you know she's not your soulmate? Even though you know you'll have to break up with her eventually? What is the point? Is there even a point?"
"What? This is about Amelia?" Oliver stood.
"Yes! God, yes, it's about Amelia! You're dating a cute strawberry blonde periwinkle flower eyed girl who isn't your soulmate!"
"You think she's cute? What?" Oliver was very confused. Shoot, I spilled something I couldn't clean up.
"Uh, nothing. I said nothing. You're dating someone before you meet your soulmate! Have you even talked to your soulmate about it?"
He frowned. "Of course I spoke to her. We talked for a while and I made sure she wasn't uncomfortable with what I was doing. Why would I do it if I hadn't and if I knew it upset her?"
I was overthinking. It was late, the day didn't start right, it barely ended right, and now I was overthinking. "Forget I said anything, you know? Just forget it all!" I left his room and slammed his door and went to my room.
"Harper!" Oliver followed me. I spun around to face him, my hands in my hair, when he opened my door.
"Do you want to talk? Wanna just rant or something?" I exhaled and nodded while I spoke.
"Yeah. Yeah, I wanna talk."
"Okay." Oliver nodded. "Let's talk. Should we start with how our soulmates are?"
