*MJ's pov*
"This is so stupid," Gwen said, her voice coming through the earbuds that were plugged into MJ's phone. She had called her when she'd gotten into position, which was the roof across from the coffee shop MJ was currently in, providing the perfect angle for keeping a lookout.
"Shut it," MJ hissed, looking out the windows to see if Harry was coming down the street, her camera on the table, "You're literally the only person I could ask to do this."
"I mean, yeah, I get that, but this just wasn't the action I was expecting, is all I'm saying," Gwen said, and MJ looked over at the roof to see the blonde leaning casually against the roof's ledge, "But hey, I'm happy to play watchful guardian, helping protect you from this rich boy. He seems real devious."
"You're not protecting me from him. You're just providing overwatch, playing Big Brother," MJ pointed out, "You're the only other person that knows Moon Knight has it out for me, so it's really him you gotta look out for." When she had met up with Gwen, she had tried giving her the whole backstory with what happened to Jack. She wasn't going to hide something that Gwen had already figured out. She also added that her and the werewolf had never been a thing, contrary to popular belief, and Gwen was genuinely surprised, but had taken the revelation with no more than a contrite nod.
"It makes sense, but you guys are like best friends, right? That's why he told you everything?" Gwen had asked, and MJ only hummed in agreement.
"Right, and if the flying snowman does, in fact, get you and takes you to his evil lair, whom should I notify?" Gwen asked, back in the present, like she was some old-timey detective.
"Well, if you do your job, you won't have to notify anyone," MJ retorted.
"Pop says that everyone should have a contingency plan," Gwen sighed, "Makes good sense, really. Just in case."
"Fine, if he gets me, just go find Ned," MJ huffed, pushing her bangs out of her face, "Or Peter. He lives in my building." She gave her the apartment number. "Chances are Ned'll be there too."
MJ glanced down at the "Stark Watch" that was still around her wrist. Ned had taken the time to try and explain it to her, that if she pressed the screen, Jack would be told where she was from his own watch. But no matter how many times she pressed it, he didn't show up. Ned was convinced that Jack must think Peter still had it, and since he was "undercover", he must be purposefully ignoring them.
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that Parker guy," Gwen said, "Hey, does he know about Jack too?" MJ decided to say that he did. What was the harm in saying other people knew when they really did? That didn't really reveal anything groundbreaking. "You know, your friend group is pretty cool. Ned is cool, Harry's sort of okay, and Peter's fine, I guess. You close with all of them like you are with Jack?"
"Uh, yeah," MJ's face heated up for a second, but then steeled herself. To hell with it all. "Peter's actually kinda my boyfriend."
"What?" Gwen shocked exclamation made her jump slightly, and her call went silent. She looked out the window and saw that the girl had left her perch on the roof, and about three seconds later the bell on the door rang out as someone else walked in, and Gwen was suddenly sitting in front of her, wearing an expression that was equal parts ecstatic and astounded. "You're shitting me! When did that happen?! Give me those sweet, sweet deets, Jones!"
"Why in the hell would I tell you anything?" MJ asked crossly, raising an eyebrow, but her tone didn't dampen the blonde's energy.
"Because it's Michelle "RBF" Jones and Penis Parker! This is breaking news!" Gwen replied enthusiastically, "Who could've called that? This is the biggest plot twist I've ever witnessed!" She then awkwardly cleared her throat. "Those are Flash's nicknames for you guys. Sorry if that's offensive."
