Chapter 4: Hold On

(Taehyung's POV)

I was at a party. Plenty of people were dancing and enjoying the loud music. I put my phone, wallet and keys on our table as soon as we reached there. "Guys, let's order." Shin, one of my closest friends at work, said. We ordered a tower of beer for the guys, cocktail drinks for the ladies and some snacks.

When the song Strip that Down by Liam Payne filled the hall, one of my colleagues, A-Yeong, pulled me to the dance floor. She was one of the head Medical Technician in our batch. We danced together and she started to grind hard against me. I suddenly stopped dancing as it caught me off guard. Oh well, maybe she's just enjoying the music. After a few minutes of intense dancing, I went to our seats. When I was drinking cola while browsing my phone, I noticed that I had missed 3 calls from Jin-hyung. Why is he calling me at this time? I picked up my wallet and keys. "Tae, where are you going?" A-Yeong asked in a flirty way. Uh-oh! "Stay with me babe." She clung onto me and touched my chest. Is she drunk? "Sorry I have to make a call." I removed her hands and quickly ran outside. I speedily dialed hyung's number. What happened next left me in shock.

"Hello, Jin-hyung." I greeted in my normal low voice. "Why did you call me?" Curiosity was obvious in my tone. "Taehyungie, Luna is in critical condition." I could hear him sobbing as he said those words. No way! A tear escaped from my eye as my hands started to shake. "She was hit by a car. And they don't know if she will make it or not." I could hear him weeping on the other line. God, please! She can't die! I silently screamed. "Please, hurry and come here at Singapore General Hospital." He failed to hide his brokenness. "Okay hyung, I will be there." I told him then cut the line. Tears were falling too fast and I couldn't control my emotions. I texted my friends to inform them that I needed to go, as there was an emergency. I will just pay them my share when I get back to work.

I hurriedly dialed my mum's number. "Aish! Mum pick it up! Please!" I blurted out while scratching my head. I was getting frustrated as the moment passes. "The number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later." The operator said. "Crap! I forgot they are both in overseas." I just left a voice message stating what happened to my dear sister.

It was 2 am when I reached home. I packed my things and took the next flight to Singapore. It was past 9 am when I landed in Singapore. As soon as I reached the hospital, I saw Jin-hyung sitting on Noona's bedside. "Hyung, let me look after Noona. Go home and rest." He just shook his head. He looked so depressed. "Don't worry hyung, I will call you once she wakes up or if anything is up." I patted his back. I knew he didn't have any decent sleep since the day he went to the hospital to look after my sister. "No, I will wait for her to wake up." Jin said calmly. "Hyung, I know how much you care and love my sister but please don't forget to take care of yourself too." I begged him. It breaks me to see him in this state. "It's all my fault. If I just disregard my feelings, she won't be here. I should be taking care of her but I failed on that simple task!" Hyung started to hurt himself and I stopped him immediately. "Hyung!" I yelled at him. "She's my everything, Tae. I can't afford to lose her." I hugged him tightly as we both shed tears. Please stop blaming yourself for what happened because, in reality, it was not your fault. It was raining heavily that night.

"Hyung, you really don't want to go home and fix your looks?" I asked as I eat some fruits. "Do you wish her to see you in this hideous state? You haven't shaved. Your hair is so messy. She will be scared to see you." I was trying my best to uplift his mood. Suddenly, the beeping sound, from the cardiovascular monitor, got louder.

As if on cue, the nurses and doctors went rushing in the room. "Sir please step out of the room." One of the nurses guided us through the door. "No! I want to stay!" I protested trying to get near to my sister. "No sir. You must go out." Before the door was totally closed, I heard the doctor shouted: "Ready the defibrillator machine."
