Akira's P.O.V.
Leon's back presses further into mine as I speed up the hover. We're flying through rural track at over 300 kilometres an hour. I take in the dry and empty environment. "This place was once full of trees you know! And animals too! Real animals Akira!" Leon gets excited very easily, especially about living things.
I smile and continue down the track. The area is too baron for humans like me to live here. However, Leon can survive in this dystopian land. Leon is a cyborg so he can adjust and adapt to changing environments. I sometimes get envious of his ability, but the shit he had to go through just isn't worth it.
I slow down the hover so I can take in the scenery. Leon whines in complaint. "Akira, go faster." I sigh and pick up the pace again. Leon smiles, and I do too seeing him so happy. That's something he can't truly feel because his brain is nothing but scrap metal and electric charge. He isn't fully human, but he likes to embrace whats left of him.
We are different but the same. Leandro and I were kept in the Government HQ against our wills. By coincidence we broke out on the same night and took advantage of the sudden partnership to gain our freedom;
I had been analyzing the Government HQ's patrol patterns for months. Once every 90 days there would be a mass meeting where everybody working the facility had to attend. This meeting was organised by the Holts, a very high ranking family on the social caste with the most access to government information in the country.
The Holts had decided to run human experiments on random people they picked off the street. I had been 9 at the time, I was heading back home from my father's funeral to pack for 'the home' as it was called.
I shuddered from the memory. "You thinking about 'that'?" Leon asks me.
"Yes."
"But that's how we started our adventures together." Cheers Leon. I huff in disbelief of his positive attitude. Leon frowns. "You're such a buzz kill."
"But I'm your buzz kill." I smile. Leon smiles and stays quiet for the reminder of the ride. I use this opportunity to just think. I think about what we'll do with the loot; a 600, 000 carat ambassador diamond Type II. Worth $650 million at least. However, most of the money made from our missions go towards the 'Teleduv Fund'.
The Teleduv Fund is the project Leon and I have been working on for a long time. The teleduv is a code name for our to-be portal, but Leon insists it's a mini wormholer. Essentially it will take us anywhere in the Universe within seconds, which would be much more efficient than my hover. However it does not mean I'm getting rid of it.
We need parts from the black market to complete the Teleduv, and we need someone to build it, we are not technical geniuses. That's why we need the money, for our Teleduv. Leon and I have stooped to very low levels to achieve this dream.
Watching Leon on the battlefield is a terrifying yet thrilling sight to behold. He fights a life-and-death situation like a game, and wins every time. The 'Triumphant Trio' give him a run for his money though, but somehow Leon pulls through for us.
I can fight, but I'm shit at long range, which is the more suitable form since everyone relies heavily on guns and dynamite. My blade is the only weapon I use, however I'm unsure of the blade's origin. I'll find out one day.
"Akira!" Leon shouts, snapping me from my daze. I look ahead of me to see the hover quickly approaching a cliff. "Look, I love jumping off things but there is no way we're doing that on a hover!" I smirk, deciding to test him. I pick up the pace.
Leon had a look of utter disbelief and betrayal. "Nonononono-"
"Yup."
For a brief moment gravity is meaningless as we drift through the air. Before I know it we're plummeting down to the desert earth. Leon clings to the side of the hover with his right and to my jacket with his left.

1...Wind swerves through my hair as I pull the hover horizontally, the quick turn preventing us from crashing. We're still until Leon speaks up. "One day... you're gonna get us- killed." He pants, not letting his grip loosen from my jacket. "Damn Mullet."
"Hey!" I retort, "You can't tell when it's tied up!" We begin to argue, mostly on my hair.
It seemed like we argued forever so I decide to be the bigger person and concentrate on our route to the hideout. However the trail is blocked by a humanoid figure. As the hover draws closer I recognize the person as none other than Pidge Gunderson, a very high status P.I. only the richest snobs can afford.
Pidge's glasses reflect the sun's glare into my eyes, somewhat blinding me. I stop the hover, looking back at a smirking Leon. Leon smirks and jumps off the hover, "Greetings, Pidge Gunderson. Whatever brings you here?"
"I assessed your travel patterns and put two and two together, simple really. However I've come here to... negotiate."

A/N I drew this based on the first chapter (because I'm extra)
Also I know it's been more than two weeks since I last updated but I'm updating at least. You have the right to be annoyed. But this story is going to delve into a lot of detail and references relating to Voltron: Legendary Defender. Season 8 just came out 6 days ago and it was so disappointing. However I loved the end bit, especially Lance surrounding himself with the things he loved and teaching kids, and Shiro's LGBTQ KISS (I wish it was Adam but wtf it was still beautiful).
Also I just moved houses today so I have no internet and I have to use data which I'd prefer not to really. And Christmas is in 5 days! Merry bloody Christmas!
